Here, thousands of patients are subjected to futile and horribly costly procedures to gain a few hours of life.  I've witnesses this recently.  I'm sure the doctors and hospitals mean well - but if the cost of hopeless "heroic medicine" were used for preventive care, the effect would be dramatic.

Only, it wouldn't be profitable under our current system.

Not-for-profit universal health care is a "no-brainer" solution to our health-care crisis.

One supposes that that is why the brain-dead opposes it.

Bu$h's attack on government-run healthcare today is a fine example of the corruption of our political dialogue.  There's no dialogue at all.
