I went ice skating with friends early this afternoon. It was the second time I ever went skating, and the first time in fifteen years. It earned me a six hour wait in the emergency room for what turned out to be a left radial fracture (aka broken left elbow). It hurts a decent amount, but I can still type--just not as fast as before. I will try to compensate by better focusing the topics of my blogging, being more concise, and doing some video blogging.
I feel pretty stupid, and I had to cancel a meeting this evening to go over the new Senate map that is being designed for the larger activist plan to track the status on legislation and committees in Congress. I am still going to put that plan into action, but this will delay things a bit. No big announcements until Tuesday now.
I was wavering on whether or not to go, because I thought there was too much work that needed to be done in order to prep for the new Congress, Eventually, I decided to go, because it would be a new experience. Ironically, the new experiences were breaking a bone, and then learning how long it takes to get treated, even at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center in a mostly empty waiting room. And really, they didn't even "treat me" as such. All I got was unless a bottle of painkillers, instructions on how to hold my arm, and a promise that, in 7-10 days, I will be able to see a doctor who can actually treat me. That seems like a while.
Thankfully, I got heath care last year because of Open Left. Otherwise, I would be pretty screwed right now. Maybe at least it will give me more insight into the heath care system.
