New York Times Pushes Lies About FDR; House GOP Pushes Lies About Tax Cuts

It's really unbelievable that though government data prove the pre-WWII New Deal created the single largest drop in the unemployment rate in American history, the zombie lies about FDR nonetheless continue - even in the New York Times.

It's really not unbelievable that though economic data prove infrastructure spending creates more jobs than tax cuts, that House Republicans are on the floor right now arguing that their tax cuts will create more jobs than Democrats' spending programs. It's not unbelievable because House Republicans have long been legislative terrorists who - like other terrorists - you can't negotiate with. Indeed, they have no problem trying to sabotage the nation's economy with discredited lies.

legislative terrorists? (0.00 / 0)
Yeah, Republicans sure lie sometimes. But legislative terrorists? Is that phrase supposed to mean something, or is it just inflammatory for the hell of it?

I like it. (4.00 / 3)

 It's short, succinct, inflammatory -- it's awesome!

"legislative terrorists" (4.00 / 2)
That is the most succinct description of the GOP agenda that I have ever heard.

I've got a great series to back you up on FDR/New Deal (4.00 / 1)
New Deal Democrat did a series and it's awesome, worth a read on the economic results of the Great Depression and the New Deal:

part I
part II
part III
part IV

He, along with Bonddad, are analyzing the raw data, from the time period, along with policy change and giving the results.

It was all to refute these certain camps who are desperately trying to refute Keynesian spending during a recession/depression, or FDR's various policies.

From everything I have seen, including the CBO, the Bush tax cuts are the biggest cause of deficits (and this is before TARP).

Then, Citizens for Tax Justice are on the case on GOP tax cut recommendations and put up a detailed analysis of comparing the Democrats Stimulus vs. the GOP one from today.

I'm sum up their report (huge pdf) in one sentence:  supply-side economics do not work in a recession.

Thanks for dispelling the myths that mainstream media sources keep pumping out!  Keep it coming!!!!

The mother of lies and faulty analysis is neither an economist nor a historian.  She has a lowly BA in English.  Shlaes is a journalist who morphed into an op ed person at the Wall Street Journal and Financial Times and is now a full fledged propagandist.  Yale degree?  Same as W and William F. Buckley. The undergrad courses there must be super weird.

Looks like an astroturfing effort is underway (0.00 / 0)
Judging by the CSPAN callers and concern trolls I've come across, including this one with the interesting name of SpamNunn of all things in this DKos thread that I got into today.

Could just be a dumb RW ideologue or a gullible Dem (which he claims to be). But judging by the name and previous encounters with him, I think not.

Teh right is nothing is not mind-numbingly consistent in its reliance on dishonest propaganda. Which works for us now, as it's just further marginalizing them. They're on a death spiral march and don't even know it--or know how to stop it.

Tax cuts didn't work? No problem, the answer is...tax cuts!
