Thank you Ralph Nader

Today, I had a very serious accident with my three year old son in the back seat.

Both front and rear airbags deployed.

I would like to thank Ralph Nader whose two decade long struggle would eventually force auto manufacturers to include airbags as required safety equipment.

Mr. Nader's advocacy likely saved both of our lives, not to mention that of many tens and thousands of others.

Let the flamefest begin.... (4.00 / 4)
...oh wait, this isn't Daily Kos. You can actually appreciate the good things Ralph Nader has done without being labeled a "purity troll" and being blamed for the failures of the Democratic Party for the last 8 years.

Glad you and your son are safe.

Hope you both are okay (N/T) (4.00 / 1)

Glad everyone is OK! (4.00 / 1)
Yep. Bush and Gore could only speak abstractly about saving lives. Nader actually did it.

Too bad that issue never came up a Presidential debate.

I'm glad to hear everyone is OK.
(And I'm glad you've stuck around here, John, to share that good news with us).

Seems like there's a rash of car accidents happening lately. Among other recent incidents, my roommate's sister and her daughter just got plowed into last weekend. Their car was totaled and there were injuries, but none fatal thank goodness.

Thanks to all for your concern.  We're fine-as I said, thanks to airbags which means, ultimately, thanks to Mr. Nader.

Not much to say beyond what everyone said above.

Nice to be among like minded folks-on this point and lots else.

Glad nobody's hurt (4.00 / 1)
and you can add one more to the list.  I am on that list too.  The week before election day 2004 I was driving south on I 65 a little north of Indianapolis, listening to the World Series and fell asleep at the wheel.  Did a double 360 off into a cornfield.

In the world before seat belts occupants of vehicles that rolled over were tossed out the side windows, and generally when they were half in and out of the car, were rolled over by the vehicle.  I have already thanked Mr. Nader personally, but I can say it again.

Thanks Ralph, for the last several years of my life.

Well now that we know you are OK and all is well (0.00 / 0)
I can safely make a joke about how you fell asleep at the wheel because your brain was trying to purge itself of the sounds of the red sox about to win the World Series!

(I'm both a yankee and red sox hater - a pox on both their houses!)
