| A few weeks ago, in reaction to one of my posts at Open Left, the Chamber of Commerce admitted that they use dues money from bailout recipients to fund their attacks on workers and the Employee Free Choice Act. They wrote: ...the U.S. Chamber continues to accept as members companies which receive both public and private funds...
Today, they made another refreshingly honest announcement: They suck at attacking workers. The Chamber today unveiled a letter signed by 3,100 businesses across the nation who oppose the Employee Free Choice Act. In related news, from the "about" section of the Chamber of Commerce website: The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world’s largest business federation representing 3 million businesses of all sizes, sectors, and regions, as well as state and local chambers and industry associations.
There's actually a typo in there. They actually meant: The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world’s largest business federation representing the viewpoints of 3,100 of our supposedly 3 million members. Put another way, we spend millions of dollars of taxpayer money advancing the viewpoint of 0.1% of our members. Some day, if we stop putting out stupid press releases that make us look foolish, we hope to earn the trust of a full 1% of our members.
