Mike Enzi: I Am Why Health Care Hasn't Passed

Wyoming Senator Mike Enzi on the "Gang of Six" negotiations in the Senate Finance Committee:

Enzi found himself under attack at the town hall simply for sitting in the same room as the three Finance Committee Democrats. Republicans in the crowd called for him to exit the talks. He assured conservatives that his presence was delaying health care reform.

"If I hadn't been involved in this process as long as I have and to the depth as I have, you would already have national health care," he said.

It is good to know that we have decided to trade national health care for an occasional conversation with Mike Enzi.

the wingnuts are too stupid (0.00 / 0)
to understand that the gang of six is helping their cause. Grassley is getting the same kind of criticism in Iowa.

As time passes, it looks more like bipartisanship has been the White House cover for giving away the store to corporate interests. They probably didn't really care about having a conversation with Enzi any more than we do.

If anybody is to blame from the gang of six it is Max Baucus.  A normal chair would have gotten a bill through Committee without involving Mike Enzi.

yes, but the White House (4.00 / 1)
has been telling drug and insurance lobbyists to work out a deal with Baucus' committee.

also, the White House doesn't mind (4.00 / 1)
that Baucus is bypassing Senator Rockefeller, who chairs the Finance Committee's subcommittee on health and should be very involved in these negotiations.

This event would seem to indicate the the shallower the water is that we paddle around in, the more certain we are to drown.

If intellectual prowess were only as big as a canoe paddle, these people would have trouble finding a splinter with which to pick their teeth.

that they are winning. the more they put these guys on the defensive the stronger the wingnuts get. It is the same strategy as the Chinese Cultural Revolution. You just use mobs to intimidate everyone. And it is working.
