David Letterman:

Sarah Palin says that she felt ambushed when Katie Couric asked her what newspaper she read.  This coming from a woman who shoots wolves from a helicopter!

That's not a joke, it's an x-ray of the conservative soul:

  • Implicit double-standard view of the world? Check!
  • Implicit sense of entitlement?  Check!
  • Casual violence?  Check!
  • Casual violence towards those helpless to fight back?  Check!
  • Bottomless sense of victimhood? Check!
  • Utter cluelessness?  Check!
  • Utter cluelessness about one's utter cluelessnes?  Check!

And you thought conservatives didn't have souls!

No.  That's vampires.  And as any fan of Buffy, The Vampire Slayer knows, vampires are capable of seeking redemption.

Remember all the above.  It's the key to understanding the conservative talk show rape obsession recently documented by Media Matters:

Well, Couric could have asked her what newspapers she didn't read. That would have taken her hours and hours to answer.

Or she could have asked her how many liberals she'd like to shoot from a helicopter.

Again, that list would have taken her forever to rundown.

was that she expected the Couric interview to just be 'two working moms talking together'

Yes, that seems the appropriate tone for an interview between the head anchor of the CBS evening news and a candidate for the Vice Presidency.

Why did she assume that "two working moms talking together" means that it would not be serious?  Is being a mom incompatible with being a real journalist?  Why assume that there would be any difference in tone or content if moms were involved?

The Right and Rape (4.00 / 2)
Boy, this reminds me of that time that hundreds of black men were killed by vigilantes based on the fears of the desolation and rape of white women.  Or the time that any other community of color or disadvantaged community gets falsely accused of defiling some pure, innocent, mythic community and must be eliminated for it.  When are these people going to be taken seriously for what they truly are?
