This village idiot is also the mayor

Here's a Quick Hit by Gray that I couldn't help but post on the front page. I'll let the idiot in question, Arlington Tennessee Mayor Russell Wiseman, speak for himself. He was mad that President Obama's Afghanistan announcement preempted Charlie Brown and wrote this on Facebook:

"Ok, so, this is total crap, we sit the kids down to watch 'The Charlie Brown Christmas Special' and our muslim president is there, what a load.....try to convince me that wasn't done on purpose. Ask the man if he believes that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and he will give you a 10 minute disertation (sic) about it....w...hen the answer should simply be 'yes'."

And also:

"you obama people need to move to a muslim country...oh wait, that's America....pitiful."

Later, when contacted by the local paper, The Commercial Appeal, he said this:

"It's ridiculous for someone to send my Facebook post....you guys are trying to make a mountain out of a molehill."

I'm sure Wiseman also thinks it's ridiculous that Gray then copied text from the Commercial Appeal story and posted it as a Quick Hit on Open Left and also ridiculous that I then posted it on the front page. And he'll also find it ridiculous if you email or retweet this item to your friends, so you better not do that.

I have two other reactions to this story. 1) WTF? and 2) WTF - people still think you can post stuff to Facebook and it won't go past your "friends" (in Wiseman's case all 1,600)??

A small town mayor? (4.00 / 2)
Sounds like he'd work out as Palin's running mate now that Glenn Beck turned her down.

I can almost see the bumper stickers now:

Or something like that.

GOP - modern era (4.00 / 3)
Republicans don't function so well in the new digital age.  They haven't yet figured out how the intertubes work.

But, but, it's so easy: Garbage in, garbage out! (0.00 / 0)
Really, how can anyone not understand this?
Maybe they mistake the tubes for sewage pipes?
:D

Why was he letting his kids (4.00 / 2)
watch Charlie Brown in the first place? It doesn't have Jesus in it.

My Thought Exactly! (4.00 / 1)
Someone should clue this guy into all the paganism in Christmas.

Obama was doing his kids a favor.

I would also like to point out (4.00 / 2)
dude is from a white-flight suburb of Memphis. It's a self-selected community he represents and not the best Tennessee has to offer.

Religion can be a menace (0.00 / 0)
No one in public office should ever be asked, "Do you believe Jesus Christ is the son of God?" George Washington, if so rudely asked, would remain silent. In all his writings and speeches he uses Jesus Christ or Christ just once.

Public office holders are entitled to human rights too, among them freedom of conscience when it come s to religion.

there are so many things wrong with this on so many levels (0.00 / 0)
which is helpful because you can stop trying ot figure itout and chalk to up to the 20% of the electorate aned their politicians/fox news anchors that are or act like they are flat out insane.
