Shame Rush, flummox GOP all at once (4.00 / 1)

I wish Al Franken were already a Senator, so he could offer the following resolution:

"It is the sense of the Senate that Rush Limbaugh has an absolute 1st Amendment right to insult any troops who disagree with the President's policy by calling them 'phony soldiers'."

How would a loyal GOPer vote on that one?  IT DOESN'T MATTER.  The point of the exercise would be to advertise Limbaugh's words, not least to "the troops".  Sometimes, the best way to make a vile idiot look vile and iidiotic is to QUOTE HIM.  Repeatedly.  In a floor debate.

The GOPers could hardly complain that Dems are sinking to the same level as they themselves did over the MoveOn ad, because the resolution, on its face, is _defending_ Limbaugh's free speech.  If that puts his ideological allies in an uncomfortable position, good! 

A Senator Franken would probably NOT go overboard and add a second clause to the resolution:  "It is the further sense of the Senate that Rush Limabugh is fat."  Too bad :-)
