Texas write in Candidates needed

Texas candidate filing has now closed.

As you may already be aware there are a number of uncontested Republican Congresscritters.

And that sucks - big time.

Below the fold to see exactly what you (if you live in Texas) can do about it.

(Cross posted here, there and everywhere)

benawu :: Texas write in Candidates needed
As is the case every election cycle there are a number of Republican Congressmen unopposed as at the end of candidate filings.

This year there are 7, more than any other in recent times!

They are as follows:
TX-01 (Gohmert) - R+21,
TX-02 (Poe) - R+13,
TX-07 (Culberson) - R+13,
TX-08 (Brady) - R+25,
TX-13 (Thornberry) - R+29,
TX-24 (Marchant) - R+11,
TX-31 (Carter) - R+14,

This is unfortunate to say the least.

However given the ludicrously easy ballot laws in Texas being a write in candidate is as easy as submitting 500 signatures of registered voters in your congressional district of choice and voila - away you go. Seems too easy? Well it is that easy!

So come on who has the cojones to take on a Republican on their home turf, thus inhibiting their ability to lend an assist to Repubs in close races?

Your thoughts?

I say that you're a natural for the Full Court Press (0.00 / 0)
that is looking to run candidates in up to 435 HR Democratic primaries. And these candidates can be minimalist, so they don't have to worry about raising millions of dollars. Hopefully, Full Court Press will take off enough so that we can find a candidates by July 25, which is the earliest date for such a candidate, according to your link.

Full Court Press was first articulated here, at OpenLeft. jeffroby has been laying out arguments for methodology at DocuDharma.com.

Even if we miss 2010, I believe that that will be the last year that we won't at least run minimalist candidates in all primaries.

I beg to differ. We haven't run in all 435 for at least 15 years and won't anytime soon. We should though and yep I think we should run everywhere.

What factors would prevent running in all 435 districts in 2012? (0.00 / 0)
Also, 15 years isn't that long...
