Last Wednesday John Edwards formally exited the Democratic Presidential Primary. This brings one very important question to mind. With Edwards gone, will Hillary or Barack gain the support of Edwards voters? This depend on two things, who if anyone Edwards endorses, and who better takes up his cause of supporting the impoverished.:
"I think both candidates wiil benefit in the short term, but long term, the candidate who talks about the plight of the poor, that champions the middle class.. will benefit from the support of John Edwards" CNN politcal analyst Donna Brazile said
Time Magazine's Joe Klien, doesn't think Edwards will back Hillary.
"I don't think he endorces Hillary Clinton. The question is whether or not he endorses Barack Obama.... (Clinton) represents alot of things that Edwards campaigned against, you know, the old Washington establishment that he believes got too close to the corporations in the 90's."
The good news is that just because Edwards is out of the race, it doesn't mean that his cause of fighting for the underpriviledged is dead. It seems to be in both candidated best interest to address the issues that Edwards supporters cared about. However I feel it would be unfortunate for Edwards to throw his support behind Obaman simply because of his personal qualms with Clinton.Edwards needs to think about who has the most experience necessary and who better would support the causes and people that he championed throughout his campaign.
