Foster's 53-47 margin is holding, with 64% of the returns in.  The vote margin is expanding slightly, at 35,619 to 31,960.  Oberweis needs to take 55% of the remaining vote to win this.

The AP has their numbers here, the Beacon News is here, and dmsilev is liveblogging all the individual counties here.  The largest county, Kane County, has returns here.

Update:  Foster Up 53-47, with 74% reporting.  Oberweis needs to take 58% of the remaining vote, I don't know where he can find that kind of margin.  The district is Republican but not that Republican.

Update 2:  79% reporting, Foster up 53-47:  Oberweis needs 61% of the remaining vote.

Update 3:  88% reporting, Foster up 53-47.  This one's done.

I wanted to see how they'd spin the results, but I guess a total blackout is as good a choice for them as any other.

Nice to see one going the right way.

I know coattail talk is very inexact, but I would think we'd see obama help sweep in a number of new Dem House members in Illinois this November (Seals being #1 among those).

79% in, Foster up 4,500 votes (0.00 / 0)
Pretty sure he's going to win this. Nice.

Obama deserves some props as well for this.

Nice job and kudos to the unions who surely played a strong role!

I've been keeping track of the percentages with more granularity over the last few updates to see who's gaining or losing ground, so I might as well share:

First number is precincts reporting, second is Foster's portion of the vote.

35% .5342

55% .5269

64% .5271

74% .5295

79% .5290

88% .5257

So it's gone back and forth, and overall moved towards Oberweis a bit, but not nearly fast enough for him to come back and win.

good to see ... (0.00 / 0)
I liked seeing Obama not only do an ad but also hit his list to get IL voters to phone bank for Foster. More of this please ...
