Obama's Friday Night News Dump (It's A Doozy!!!)

Indicted Chicago businessman Antoin "Tony" Rezko was a more significant fundraiser for presidential candidate Barack Obama's earlier political campaigns than previously known. Rezko raised as much as $250,000 for the first three offices Obama sought, the senator told the Tribune on Friday.

Obama also said for the first time that his private real estate transactions with Rezko involved repeated lapses of judgment. The mistake, Obama said, was not simply that Rezko was under grand jury investigation at the time of their 2005 and 2006 dealings. "The mistake was he had been a contributor and somebody involved in politics," he said.

In an extensive interview that he hoped would quell the lingering controversy over his relationship with Rezko, Obama said that voters concerned about his judgment should view it as "a mistake in not seeing the potential conflicts of interest."

So the man behind both Illinois state house and U.S. Senate ethics legislation didn't see "the potential conflicts of interest." Hmmm.

wait a minute: Obama said he has superior judgment? (0.00 / 0)
does he? Rezko+Wright=serial misjudge?

Oh Please (0.00 / 0)
Does a Clinton supporter REALLY want to throw that stone?  Whitewater, Travelgate, Cattle Futures, Norman HSU, Handling Lewinsky, Hillarycare private conferences, Ferraro Handling, Bankruptcy bill, AUMF, Bill's SC statements handling... And the list goes on.

in Hillary's case, it's been done... (0.00 / 0)
...but in Obama's case, it's not old news.

This is going to get dragged out into the spotlight and overplayed.  If not now, then during the general.  Sucks, and it may well be a double-standard, but that's how it is.

Okay-----------so here we go with the real estate and land deals--can not wait for the Clintons to step on this land mine so please let us get breathless and viral about this--Obama is soooo bad.Clinton and McCain are just so very clean and would never ever in a million years be so dumb as to be honest about something like this.Shame on Obama and let us just nail him on everything and everyone. As for me find it refreshing that he answers questions directly and honestly. Oh well must not ever give him credit---he might continue with this travesty.

Wishful thinking won't help (4.00 / 1)
Clinton and McCain haven't sold themselves as the avatar of "new politics." Obama has. This will hurt him.

Not to mention, it's actually the FIFTH time he's changed the donor amount from Rezko.

but we don't have to rag on him (0.00 / 0)
He's been on the road campaigning for three solid months.  He came clean once he had the time to figure out what really happened.  And he did it in his usual manner - up front and evenhandedly.  No hysteria, no poor me, no crap.

And he hasn't taken any money from the guy for this campaign, only state campaigns.

Billary and McCain should be so good and we wouldn't be having this contest at all.

What this ignores is that the journalists that he met with all came away saying that he answered every question and that things are above board. That the biggest mistake Obama made was not meeting with them sooner to clarify things.

And to back up my point, here are the articles:

Chicago Tribune

Chicago Sun Times

http://www.suntimes.com/news/m...

So there is the coverage provided by the journalists he met with. Mind providing  the source of your news that caused you to call this a doozy? Cause from what I see from the people who actually, you know, met with him and whose job it is to investigate these things, Obama is looking pretty good for him and nothing that would qualify as a Friday Dump and Doozy.

I'll give you credit for being right about one thing. He shouldn't have done this on a Friday. He should have done it during the week so the good news and positive coverage would reach more people.

It amazes me... (0.00 / 0)
How naive people are about how campaigns operate. This was done on a Friday night for a reason.

And no, not everyone believed everything he said:
