A Follow-up on Ned Lamont, Obama, and FISA

In January, I wrote the following about Ned Lamont's endorsement of Obama in which I expressed mild dissatisfaction with the decision.  The gist of the post was organized around the idea that the endorsement made sense only if Lamont could persuade Obama to take on the FISA fight strongly because Obama had not been particularly helpful (to put it mildly) during the Lamont campaign.

And while it's not exactly what we're talking about today, I suppose it's worth noting that Lamont endorsed Obama, and then we did win the FISA fight.  So my mild concern is now obviated.  Lamont made a decision to endorse Obama.  I had my reservations, but I was wrong, and the decision paid off.

So thanks, Ned, for what you did.  It is possible to work from the inside and make change.

Kudos to you, Matt. It takes a real man to admit when he was wrong.

Impossible to Know but impossible not to Hope (0.00 / 0)
Following the confirmation of a young liberal to the Supreme Court, after President Obama passes a sweeping progressive legislative program as the troops come home as the violence subsides in Iraq and the long road toward fiscal responsibility is begun based on helping the middle and lower classes and taxing the excess right out of the rich...that is when we can claim some credit along with Ned Lamont.

Obama's 'relationship' to Leiberman was regretfull... (0.00 / 0)
but I would suspect that Lamont endorsed him because he was OBVIOUSLY the more progressive, anti-DLC candidate.

Hopefully Obama will show Lamont some love in the future.

End this war. Stop John McCain. Cindy McCain is filthy rich.

It's tough when two loyalties seem to clash... (0.00 / 0)
The loyalty to a progressive Democrat like Ned Lamont vs. the loyalty to an important issue like FISA.

It probably won't be the last time these kinds of clashes pop up. All we can do is inform ourselves to the hilt, talk to the parties involved, look at everything with a fresh and objective mind, and then trust our instincts to lead us in the right direction.

We're all going to make mistakes -- or write things from our hearts rather than from our heads (I'm certainly guilty of that) --  and disagree at times. But as long as we keep moving forward, together, on the big issues, we'll see progress.

All Hail Ned "Obama" Lamont (0.00 / 0)
God, is there anything less than hero worship the left hemisphere can engage in. I mean, it's just getting sickening reading something this gaggingly-sweet every.other.day.

No wonder so many of the "older" Democrats think of you as juveniles. You act like juveniles in so many ways.
