Why NOT a Lincoln-Douglas Debate?

Over on HuffPost it's reported that Clinton has challenged Obama to a Lincoln-Douglas style debate.  Why not?
QueenTiye :: Why NOT a Lincoln-Douglas Debate?
I've been saying for a while that I would love to have a true debate, instead of these moderator-driven media farces.  I don't know if "Lincoln-Douglas" is what I have in mind, but it certainly sounds better, and like it would serve the electorate infinitely better than these mostly nonsensical media farces.

I'd LOVE to see a debate with opening statements from each candidate (longer than one minute - maybe 5 minutes!) and closing statements - with moderators only being responsible for ensuring that candidates allow for rebuttal as necessary, and complete their replies on time.  It would be helpful if they would do this on a single topic, and not just taking a duck shooting approach.

Of course Obama has no real need to do this now - he's leading, and debating opens the door for missteps that harm his candidacy... but it would be nice to see this format introduced into the general election process...

What do you think of a "Lincoln-Douglas" Style Debate?
We should have one before the NC Primary
Lets have one as part of a Superdelegate Primary
Lets have lots of them for the General Election
Not practical in the modern era
Don't need them
