Ron Paul Endorses Donna Edwards's Republican Opponent

Donna Edwards will be seated in Congress, and her special election in on June 17.  She does have a Republican opponent, Peter James, and he has been endorsed by Ron Paul:

Peter James is our Republican candidate in Maryland's 4th Congressional District. Peter faces a special election on June 17, which provides a unique opportunity for us to pick up this seat. There will likely be low voter turn out, so it is absolutely essential that Republicans, and liberty-loving independents and Democrats, go out to vote for Peter. Time is short and this election is rapidly approaching, please do what you can to help Peter today.

James is a crazy man who passes out monopoly money and talks about an international banking cartel, hint hint.  Still, Paul's rationale makes sense, low turnout elections are opportunities for a small dedicated group to make an impact.  I guess we'll see what kind of impact Ron Paul's movement will have.  I'm not expecting much, but if you're in Maryland's fourth district, make sure to vote for Donna on June 17.

The FEC does not have a quorum so it can't rule on that question.

Paul's movement. (0.00 / 0)
It's all bluster and no action.  I remember reading how Paul couldn't even get people who attend his events to actually take some time to go and vote for him in the Republican primary.

Didn't they recently overwhelm the Nevada state convention to the point the Republican leaders abruptly postponed the final delegate vote to another day? Sounds like action to me.

He will turn out to be the Republican version of Lyndon LaRouche.

Dems outnumber Republicans in MD-04 by about 3-1. Fat fucking chance.

Ron Paul came in 4th, fwiw,... (0.00 / 0)
...in the February Republican Presidential primary, in our heavily Democratic MD-04 district.  From this Maryland State Board of Elections site (scroll down to MD-04 results), the order was McCain (57.0%), Huckabee (27.1%)*, Romney (6.4%), Paul (4.4%), and the rest of the pack,^ each under 2% (^led by Alan Keyes at 1.9%!!!).

(*we have LOTS of churches in this majority African-American district; that's the only clue I have on why Huckabee may have done that well).

I did see a lot of last minute roadside signs go up from the Paulistas along my commute route, and, I dunno, perhaps they can make inroads into the same folks (if any) reeled in by the Lyndon Larouche groupies who occasionally infest the sidewalk in front of the Oxon Hill post office.  So far, however, I don't see much reason for concern, and I am gratified that the Edwards campaign has been collecting contributions for the June 17 special election (go here to donate).

One final bit - Peter James called in today to local station  WAMU-FM's The Politics Hour, and if that minute or so was any indication, he makes Dear Leader sound almost Shakespearian in comparison.  He stumbled and sputtered to such an extent that I could barely make out what point he was trying to make.  The audio for that broadcast will be available in WAMU's online archives at some point (go to the link above), but I would recommend not wasting your time.  [I didn't note when he came on - sometime within the first 20 minutes of the show, I think.]

Keep your mind free and clear, Donna Edwards, and don't sell your soul.
