Here is the latest update on my personal ads, looking only at how they performed since Friday:
McCain Ad #1:
8,935 search impressions
46 click thru's
Average cost per click: $0.57
McCain Ad #2:
8,816 search impressions
46 click thru's
Average cost per click: $0.60
I created the second ad in order to see if I could make one that performed better than the first ad. As it turns out, their performance is almost identical. So, instead of dropping one and replacing it with a new ad, I have decided to take both of these ads on the road.
The ads seem effective--possibly very effective. I have a hard time believing that if I donated $50 to the McCain campaign, that the money would result in 92, well targeted, direct voter contacts, not to mention about 17,700 less impactful, but still extent, voter contacts. With the cost of my personal ad campaign mounting, I want to shift away from my home state of Pennsylvania, and target areas where my money can make even more of a difference.
So, starting tomorrow, I will run the first McCain ad in Nevada, and the second McCain ad in New Mexico. During the week, I will test out more states, but I like New Mexico and Nevada because they are the smallest swing states currently showing a McCain lead. As such, right now, they seem like the easiest path to flipping the lead back to Obama. I will provide a report when it is available. How are your campaigns going?
