| Naomi Wolf claims that our military's oaths have been changed to something called "The Warrior's Creed", which is to the President, and not to the Constitution. (See Robert Fisk's take on this at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v... . He doesn't say anything about loyalty to the President, so perhaps it's changed again??? Maybe I misheard Wolf. ). Were it not for Naomi Wolf's stature (she's a Rhodes scholar), I might think this is somebody's delusion. She also mentions the report, from a Congressman, that some of them were told in "private conversations" that if they didn't pass the bailout, the Dow would drop by 1,000 points per day, and there would be martial law.
You can watch her interviewed here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v... on her new book "Give me Liberty: A Handbook for American Revolutionaries" and the recent materialization of the "coup" in the US.
Wolf mentions all of her predictions that she got right, but she didn't mention one that she got wrong. She had predicted that travel leaving the US would be restricted, by February of this year, or thereabouts. It would be restricted in the sense that you would have to ask permission to leave the country.
Didn't happen. Hope she's wrong about other stuff, though we are so far gone down the road of shutting down democracy that the rest of her analysis and advice needs to be taken seriously.
IMO, though, it's less important to try and arrest the usurpers of democracy (as Wolf calls for) than it is for Congress to loudly proclaim that the country is in danger from within, and the military should not obey unconstitutional orders (regardless of any new Warrior's Creed or Warrior's Ethos). Doing so is sure to become common knowledge amongst military personnel, most of whom are patriotic (in the normal, American sense of the word.)
Unfortunately, Congress is full of corruption and cowardice. It's hard for me to believe that Republicans will all of a sudden find their love of liberty, and the Democrats their backbones. So, I'm not optimistic about them opening their mouths about anything, much less persuading any District Attorneys to arrest BushCo. I think it's going to be an interesting 4th quarter, to say the least.
Probably the optimal strategy (says me) for American citizens to follow is to contact members of the military and warn them about what's going on. Hopefully, Wolf has misinterpreted the discussion on military internet discussion boards about whether or not they should obey orders during a Continuity of Government situation. I think the fact that such discussions are happening is a good sign, which is not what Wolf makes of them. Then again, I haven't actually seen any of these discussions.
What are the OpenLeft biggies doing to help rescue us from a police state, in the non-ideological manner that Wolf describes? I hope this is given serious consideration, because there will be no progressive movement, at all, if democracy dies in the US, completely. Wolf has put her finger on too many signposts of a shutting down of democracy not to be alarmed.
BTW, Aaron Russo claimed to have learned from his friend Nick Rockefeller that an elite group, including Rockefeller, who are pulling the strings, intend to micro-chip the population. (Interview here.) These chips would allow for financial transactions, and dissidents will simply have their transactions blocked. (Reminds me of movie "The Net"). They ultimately want complete control of the world - their main motivation is power, not money. Ultimately, they want to subvert all nation-states, including the US. So, in the case of the US, that means shutting down what's left of our democracy. I'd like to know what Wolf would say about the Russo interview..... |
