Obama Clobbering McCain in the Fake Parts of America But Losing Big in the Real Parts

Barack Obama has surged into the lead in the superficial parts of the United States. For example, he is solidly ahead along the Pacific coast which is comprised of newer "fancy" states. Obama is also ahead in the phony Great Lakes states and the equally inauthentic states of the Northeast. Not surprisingly, Obama is popular in the D.C. area and in much of Virginia.

In real Virginia, however, John McCain is dominant. McCain is authentic and naturally his message resonates with real Americans. Other parts of real America include: Alabama, Mississippi, Kentucky (well most of it), Tennessee, South Carolina and the gulf coast states. In fact, there's a whole stack of genuine states above Texas extending vertically all the way to North Dakota (where things get iffy). And of course Idaho, Utah and Wyoming have almost no fake people in them.

Unfortunately for McCain the courts have consistently ruled that superficial people have almost as much a right to vote as the authentic ones. And right now the authentic people appear to be outnumbered.

This sh*t is getting serious (4.00 / 6)
I've been seriously worried since at least 2005 about a racist backlash against people of color resulting from an economic downturn, because that's what always happens. People don't place the blame where it really belongs, they go for the easy target. And the corporate media leads the way just like they are now: slurping up, digesting, and regurgitating in IMAX every juicy morsel McCain tosses at them.

An excellent piece from Billmon at Kos today:

Powerful elements of the Republican Party and the conservative "movement" aren't just preparing themselves to go into opposition, they're preparing themselves to dispute the legitimacy of an Obama presidency -- in ways that could, if taken to extreme, lead to another Oklahoma City.

Frankly, the way many Republicans and their corporate media co-conspirators are fanning the flames, it doesn't have to be "taken" to all that much of an "extreme". More Billmon:

Likewise, I don't think there's ever been an American vice presidential candidate who explicitly referred to entire regions of the United States as "pro-American" -- with the clear implication that other regions are something less than "pro-American." Not since the Civil War, anyway.

We've crossed some more lines, in other words -- in a long series of lines that have made it increasingly difficult to distinguish between the ultraconservative wing of the Republican Party and an explicitly fascist political movement...

The repercussions of McCain and Palin inciting the mob are going to last long after the election.

This shit has always been serious (4.00 / 2)
It just goes into remission from time to time, as conditions allow. It's the political equivalent of cancer. You don't "cure" it so much as you overcome it and learn to live with the prospect of it coming back without warning. Every society has, and has always had, its racist, nativist, anti-cooperative element, and that's what they are. They will always be with us, in one form or another. The question is whether we can contain them, because total defeat is impossible.

Remission - -um,.. yeah, (0.00 / 0)
I know. That's why I stated near the very beginning, "because that's what always happens".

"Unfortunately for McCain the courts have consistently ruled that superficial people have almost as much a right to vote as the authentic ones."

Except in Ohio...

REID: Voting against us was never part of our arrangement!

REID: This deal keeps getting worse all the time!

Um, SCOTUS just ruled AGAINST the Ohio GOP (4.00 / 1)
And thus FOR the "superficial people".

Yeah, but they are at it again... (0.00 / 0)
...going to their buddies in the Ohio supreme court.  The Ohio court hasn't been as friendly to the GOP as the 6th circuit, but who knows what's going to go on...

It's hard for me to imagine (0.00 / 0)
a state supreme court effectively dissing the US one, at least in a non-wingnut state.

It's a wingnut court... (0.00 / 0)
...all Republicans... although they aren't all nutso...

I hope they rule in our favor, or at least Brunner stalls them for as long as possible...

I know that it's unfashionable these days (0.00 / 0)
But I still think that there's a difference between conservative Repubs, and wingnuts. I might not agree much with or even respect the former (for going along with types whom they know are bad for the country), but the latter are the most dangerous and creepy ones. E.g. a Grassley or Lugar vs. a Bachman or Gingrich. Let's hope that they're not all nutso, then.

This was never going to be easy, of course.

That's true (4.00 / 2)
Nobody loves America quite like the real states down south. All those traitor northern states just hate our nation!

Yeah, like Virginia and North Carolina! Real Yankee scum! (4.00 / 2)
Maybe it's global warming, but the south just ain't what it used to be.

I would love to know how much of McCain's $ comes from 22101, 22102 (Mclean, VA) and 22207 (Arlington, VA)

Real America/Fake America (4.00 / 2)
"The authentic people appear to be outnumbered"

It's actually even worse than that.  Fake Americans, it appears, contribute more to our nation's wealth than Real Americans.

I took the liberty of dividing the states into three categories: "Real", "Fake", and "Iffy."  According to Tremayne's suggestions, I found 19 Real states and 19 Fake states (the rest are Iffy).  The Real states have slightly fewer people: 109,360,000 Real Americans in Real states versus 118,255,000 Fake Americans in Fake states.

However, if you look at IRS numbers for tax revenues from each state, you discover that the average Real American from a Real state contributes $6,338, but the average Fake American from a Fake state contributes $11,400.  That means that Fake Americans contribute, on average, 80% more of our nation's tax revenue than do Real Americans!

The implications of this, of course, are deeply disturbing.  Nearly two thirds of our Federal revenue is actually Fake!  Real Americans are being tainted, on a daily basis, by Federal dollars paying for their defense, their highways, their welfare benefits, their Medicare benefits, and their farm subsidies that are actually two thirds FAKE!  Merciful heavens.

(Real: AK, AL, AR, AZ, GA, ID, KS, LA, MS, MT, NC, NE, OK, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, WY.  Fake: CA, CT, DC, DE, HI, IL, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, NH, NJ, NY, OR, RI, VT, WA, WI.  The rest are "Iffy.")

"iffy" - ha! (4.00 / 1)
Do "Iffy" states consist of people who probably ought to be tried for treason, but haven't been yet?

Say, don't the "Real" states consume more porn (at least per capita) than the "Fake" states? So from a pure revenue standpoint, perhaps "Real" states do more than their fare share bringing in the bulk of all those porn tax dollars.

Schrodinger's States (0.00 / 0)
Iffy states are those that could be fake, could be real, but we haven't checked yet. That check won't happen until election day.
