Obama's Meeting with Cheney a Bad Sign for Progressives

Barack Obama will host Dick Cheney on Tuesday in Chicago for talks on subjects the President-elect's transition team would not reveal but sources say include covert Bush Administration policies Cheney would like to see continued.

The Obama-Cheney meeting will come on the heels of an Obama-McCain detente on Monday. Sources say Obama and McCain will discuss issues the two can work together on during the upcoming Obama administration. 

Last week Obama met with Senator Hillary Clinton about her possible appointment as Secretary of State. These meetings with former rivals underscore the approach Obama will take and the influence of his idol Abraham Lincoln. Obama has frequently mentioned Doris Kearns Goodwin's book about Lincoln, "Team of Rivals," as a template for his administration.

In regards to the meeting with the Vice President, one advisor has leaked this surprise news: Cheney is under consideration for a proposed new cabinet position, Secretary of Defense Against the Dark Arts. This is a possibility the progressive netroots should oppose. While Cheney certainly knows as much about the dark arts as anyone, how can we be certain his fraternization with Dementors and Death Eaters will cease in two months?

Remember, Obama on his Mother's side is -- what was it? -- fifth cousin five times removed from Dick Cheney.  Well they have some family business to settle.  They are Kin and they have to organize the next family reunion, which next time will include the whole Obama Clan -- from Kenya and everywhere else, including the Indonesian and Chinese branches of the family.  

Cheney wants this because he has suddenly come to understand that a Republican Lesbian Daughter is insufficient claim to true family diversity -- so he is reaching out as far as he can.  

I think Barack Obama will have fun with him.  They Kissin Cousins after all.

tremayne, you make a statement that you don't elaborate on.  Why?  

There has been a lot of "nattering nabobs of negativity" around here, lately.  Why?

tremayne, if you were president elect would you meet with, Cheney, Bush, Lieberman, et al or just send them straight to the gallows?

Maybe that's why Obama is meeting with Cheney so he can beg for mercy and a pardon?  I just want to see the Secret Service make Cheney go through a metal detector, pat down, and body cavity search.

Let us also consider that Dementors hold no loyalty except to whomever will provide them with the most souls to consume.  I can think of some souls to offer, Bush, Lieberman, Limbaugh, O'Reilly, etc., etc, etc...
