Apparently the Republican leader in the House doesn't believe that a stimulus is necessary, and is looking for economists who will argue against the need for government spending.  If you are such an economist, you can submit your comments here.  Or if you aren't, you can pretend to be one and submit those comments anyway.  I look forward to all those with Masters degrees in Economics giving some good quips.

Phil and Wendy are both economists.  Phil said the recession wasn't real.  Wendy was on the Board of Directors of Enron.  They's be perfect for this gig.

Off topic but I can't recent.  The most Republican district in the last Congressional elections was Kansas-1 represented by Jerry Moran.  I guess that proves, when it comes to Republicans, "What a Moran is more than a saying it's the way they do business."  Thanks Bugs.

I dare you to convince McConnell to try and filibuster the stimulus ..  I double dog dare you .. and yes .. before you ask .. I'd really love for McConnell to try it .. because .. I am skeptical he'd have the votes to filibuster it .. and if he did .. it would force Obama to drop his post-partisan nonsense

Might also give Dems cover (0.00 / 0)
to change the rules on filibusters.

The marvelous asshat from Ohio who opposed the GM bailout, even though it would lay his state in ruins...

I guess they are pretty desperate, huh... even conservative economists are arguing for a Keynesian solution at this point in time.

Good luck with that quest, Boehner...  You'll probably end up with a bunch of Rush Limbaugh addicts who claim to know everything about economics 'cos they own a Pizza Hut franchise...

REID: Voting against us was never part of our arrangement!
SPECTER: I am altering the deal! Pray I don't alter it any further!
REID: This deal keeps getting worse all the time!

Everyone knows, right, that this stimulus strategy was tried in 1929 and sank like a lead balloon? It will be a long time before Americans regain their confidence to spend money they don't have to buy things that they cannot afford. And now the government is doing just that. In the meantime, the basic problem is that the US has the lowest tax rate of any Western industrialized nation. Is it any wonder that we cannot pay our debts?

The GOP position seems just as ridiculous, since it was GOPism that got us into this mess in the first place.

There is no answer. We are hurting and we will continue to hurt until the banks get paid off.
