Success! According to WI Dem in the comments to the action post below, the Nadler amendment has been approved:

Nadler's amendment is a go. Now everyone can play, because there will be a floor vote tomorrow.

Alright! Thanks to everyone who called!

Now we can move forward and start whipping on the Nadler amendment. Call the congressional switchboard at 202-225-3121 in order to reach your member of Congress. Ask him or her to vote "Yes" on the Nadler amendment to H.R. 1 tomorrow.

We can win this one! I feel pumped.

Contacted representative (0.00 / 0)
I contacted my representative but she already supports bullet trains and mass transit so maybe I was just bothering them.

Can never hurt to reinforce it (0.00 / 0)
And you pay their salaries. You're not bothering them.

Not. (4.00 / 3)
If you know they're supporters, call to thank them and ask if there's anything you can do to help. Calls praising their actions are at least as important as calls harassing them to vote your way. All stick and no carrot just doesn't work long-term. NOBODY is ever bothered by too many thank-yous.

A bit of caution (4.00 / 1)
My source may have jumped the gun. The word is that Pelosi green-lighted the amendment, but it's not official yet.

Still, can't hurt to contact all members right away.

Thanks for highlighting this, Chris.

well, that's good... (0.00 / 0)
And not to be a downer or anything - but $3 billion, maybe 4, on top of the $9-10 billion already in the bill? It's small potatoes.

I mean, this is a generational opportunity - this bill is explicitly designed to build infrastructure, it's a trillion dollar chunk of spending, and this is all we get for rail and mass transit? With Obama, who made energy independence a big part of his campaign? And a congress that's dominated by Democrats? I'm pretty disappointed.

That's why we need to keep fighting (4.00 / 2)
We still have the senate floor amendment process and then the conference committee.

I met with Congressman Towns' Chief of Staff today... (4.00 / 2)
we discussed green jobs and the infrastructure package about 3 hours before this broke.

I just spoke with staff in my congressman's office, and he promised to relay the update about this specific opportunity immediately, and get back to me.

Is there somewhere we're tracking the whip count overall?

Frankly this shows why we need a Whip Count Tracker Web Tool like the one I proposed in a diary a couple weeks ago...

Do we have news... (0.00 / 0)
with any of the other amendments? As Chachy said, it's not quite enough, though I'm glad it's something.

Great (0.00 / 0)
Let's push this hard. Post something about this again tomorow and cross post it on Dkos to get maximum attention.

Also when people report results can we start a whip count on it?

John McCain: Beacuse lobbyists should have more power

Few more things (0.00 / 0)
Rep. Flake got a amendment included to strike AmTrak funding from the bill

and according to Transportation for America it could come up for a vote by noon tomorow.

Let's have a big effort ready to go early tomorow morning.

sorry for so many comments but here's one more thing.

Use this form so Transportation for America can keep track, they are doing great work on this as well.
