Just Go To Russia Already

Memo to all you right-wingers talking about "Going Galt" by quitting your jobs and leaving the country: just friggin' do it already.

Give Russia a try. It is just the sort of right-wing, pro-private sector country with lots of wide open spaces that you would love.

You have destroyed five million jobs and are trying to cause another eight million people to lose their homes.  The jobs you quit, and the homes you leave, could be put to better use by the people who you made unemployed and homeless.

You titans of industry did such a bang-up job running the country, that I am sure we will struggle without you. However, it is no less than we deserve. After all, it was our own irresponsibility, not yours, that led to this crisis. We no longer deserve to share a country with people who are so utterly superior to us in every way.

If Russia isn't to your liking, and you would prefer a small island nation like the original John Galt, then maybe you could try Singapore. It is pretty right-wing and pro-capitalist. Give it a shot.

Just do it already. The only thing more irritating than people who are constantly threatening to leave the country but never actually leave are when people who actively destroyed the country are threatening to leave but never actually do. You already shat on us, now either get off the pot or stop talking about getting off the pot.

So seriously, just go to Russia already. You have no idea how long this left-winger has been waiting to tell you right-wingers to do that.

Well said, Chris (0.00 / 0)
Though honestly, I wonder why we care about their whining at all except for the RWNM that repeats it ad nauseum.

That whole Galt thing (4.00 / 4)
Is the biggest crock of pussy ass bullshit I've ever heard of in my life.  What a bunch of delusional little shitheads.

Do you really need to feel important so badly that you will threaten to leave in order to maintain the fantasy that anybody wants you here?

It is the fantasy of a child. (4.00 / 2)
How many times after being punished does a child fantasize about dying to spite his or her parents? "That'll show 'em!  They'll miss me when I am gone."

Conservatives have run the country/planet into the ground.  They now want to run and hide from the disasters they have created.  But their warped psyches cannot admit failure, so they continue this Randian fantasy in their minds in which we will all miss them when they are gone.  As if.

Totally agree except (4.00 / 3)
in your rant I'd substitute "limp dick" in place of "pussy ass". I've had enough of weak and bad things always being linked to female genitalia (and therefore women), especially when the offenses in question are primarily committed by men! (Not directed at you, TValley, just saying).

Jim Taggart (4.00 / 5)
I'm now reading Atlas Shrugged and it's very clear who has been running the show since about the time Reagan took over: Jim Taggart.  The guys who don't produce a damn thing, who don't respect those who do, who are politically adroit enough to wheedle tax breaks and contracts out of the government and who laugh at the victims of their corruption.  This type can no more "Go Galt" than a parakeet can go to college.  They just aren't capable of even grasping the meaning or purpose of the act.

No doubt there are actually productive, inventive people in this country, but if they were happy to be contributing the fruit of their intellect under Clinton...why should they stop now under Obama?  Even with the expiration of the Bush tax cuts, they'll still make more money the more they produce.  And if they happen to be fond of science, things will look quite a bit brighter than under Bush.

The heroes of Atlas Shrugged were impossibly idealistic and principled individuals, of a sort that simply doesn't exist.  The ass clowns on the right calling for their listeners to "Go Galt" are nothing like those characters...and anyone who is, isn't listening to them.

This is what happens when an ideology becomes out of touch... (0.00 / 0)
With the mainstream population. All of a sudden weird "movements" out of nowhere pops up in the hopes that these activities will trick people into thinking that the ideology is still valid or even relevant.

The vast majority of people perpetrating this movement are the same people that have pictures of Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, etc. on their walls. They spout off things like low taxes, small government, and personal responsibility when their leaders can't live up to any of these 'principles'.

I personally want them to keep pushing this until every last book of Ayn Ryan is sold, read, and thrown away.

Ha ha! (4.00 / 3)
Way to turn around the, "Why don't you go to Russia," back on them...

For the youngn's here, that was a typical attack on dems during the cold war...

Now that Russia's not communist anymore, but still a dictatorship, Bowers has got it turned right back around on them!

Nice job!  I'm going to be using that line!  :-)

We're being invaded by WATBs (4.00 / 3)
Atlas Shrugged was a novel; John Galt never existed.  The people who are creative and productive are NOT the ones who run industry.  The people who are talking about "going Galt" aren't going to, and the ones who actually could have no reason to.

It'd really be great if the people who became wealthy exploiting the honest labor or real hard-working people would take their ill-gotten gains and get the hell out of Dodge.  But they won't.  It's nothing but a bluff; they're too soft to actually work for a living, and too dependent on others to survive on their own.  It's a pathetic cry for help.  Let's all stand on the street and holler "go ahead and jump."  I promise, none of them really will.

Think about it: it's like they're holding a gun to their own heads, and threatening to shoot if we don't give in.

I'm in Singapore. They would not be happy here. (4.00 / 3)
Over 80% of the population lives in government-owned housing, cars are taxed at very high rates, and there is very good mass transit and public services.

While it's certainly not perfect, I like this place a lot.  Singapore better approximates socialist utopia than any sort of libertarian utopia.

Donkeylicious

"libertarian utopia" (4.00 / 2)
Huh - I've never heard that phrase before. From my perspective, it's a total oxymoron!

The Singapore Plan (0.00 / 0)
Wingnut Social Security critics love to bring up the Singapore Plan when pushing Health Savings and Personal Retirement Accounts. Until they get schooled on the details.  http://www.ncpa.org/pub/st203

There is a lot to admire in the Singapore Plan. If you want universal coverage accompanied by strict government controls over cost, medical training, and many of the hospitals. Sure Singaporeans own their accounts in ways we don't, as long that is as they spend the results on government approved goals.

Now it turns out that those goals largely overlap with societal consensus: care of parents, health care, housing, education but the end result starts looking nothing like Galt's Gulch. Singapore may be a great place to make money but otherwise I don't libertarians would like it much.

This is unbelievable bullshit (4.00 / 4)
Instapundit is a state-supported LAW PROFESSOR, for Christ's sake. His lovely trophy bride is a goddamn state-supported EXPERT WITNESS. By their own standards, my standards, and ALMOST EVERYONE'S STANDARDS, they're social parasites and nothing more. No value-added, no production, no nothing. Nulls and placeholders, standing in for human beings who aren't there. Worthless.

And they're planning to go on strike and bring the rest of us to our knees? They both could die right this very minute and nothing would change for anyone in the world except their blood relatives.

I just wish I lived in a different universe. This one is too fucking nuts.

"Just Go to Russia Already" (4.00 / 2)
I don't have anything insightful to add to the discussion. My brain is screaming "Fuck Yeah!" so loudly, it's drowning everything else out.

importent people? (0.00 / 0)
Wasn't it Charles de Gaulle that said "The cemeterys of the world are full of indespensable men"? This is just more fantasy from the divorced from reality neo-conmen.

Government by organized money is no better than government by organized mob..... FDR

I left the country in early 1995 (0.00 / 0)
I'd been looking for work abroad anyway, but the results of the 1994 elections confirmed my resolve to get a job overseas and get the hell out of this country.

It felt good.

Little did I know I'd be moving back in 2002 under the Worst. President. Ever.
