Rep. Pete Stark: "I commend MoveOn for their ad and for speaking truth to power"

"I commend MoveOn for their ad and for speaking truth to power," said Stark. "Up is not down, the earth is not flat, and the surge is not working. General Petreaus betrayed his own reputation by standing with George Bush in opposition to the timely withdrawal of all of our brave men and women from Iraq. I thank MoveOn for their patriotic ad and call on Petreaus to help Bush end a war the President should have never started."

That's how a Democrat acts!

I am so angry right now. (0.00 / 0)
I am glad to read that Pete Stark was one of the few who had enough guts to speak the truth.

One bright spot in an otherwise dismal day.

I've got straight to depression and haven't been reading blogs for about a month.  I used to enjoy getting my daily dose of outrage, but that was when Republicans were in charge.

Thank God For Atheists Like Pete Stark! (4.00 / 1)
There's a lot to be said for freethinking.

First, there's the "free" thing.  Then there's the "thinking" thing.  And finally, there's the synergy between the two.

that cloning thing yet?

Obama (0.00 / 0)
Hi Matt,

I don't know whether this is true or not. We knew earlier that Obama avoided the vote citing scheduling conflict.

But some people noticed the following:

Obama voted on the Feingold amemdment after he ducked the vote on the Cornyn amendment. He was in the Senate and hiding when the Cornyn amendment came up.

Obama did vote for the Feingold amendment on troop withdrawl. Maybe you can do a bit investigation on this. If Feingold amendment was indeed voted after 'moveon.org' amendment, the scheduling conflict excuse spouted by Obama and his supporters is just a  blatant lie.

Pet Stark's "Coming Out" (4.00 / 1)
For those who don't know, Rep. Pete Stark is giving a speech at Harvard University tonight that is being billed as his "Coming Out" publicly as a nonbeliever (atheist).  I think he will be the first U.S. member of Congress to do so.  I'm going to his talk tonight and will try to catch a word with him to say how much we appreciate the leadership he showed up on the Hill today...

See, it ain't so hard. (0.00 / 0)
I expect the Dem asswipes are sharpening the knives for Stark now, too. It's so hard for the poor things to keep truthtellers from spouting off and spoiling the good times with Georgie. The contrast hurts, make it stop!

Gotta say, the GOP has taken a lot of hits for its sexual grotesqueries, but personally I prefer their way of fucking their friends to the way the Dems do it.

I have faith in Eli Pariser, too... (0.00 / 0)
Not that I need to write talking points for him, but if it were up to me, I'd say something like "Getting censured by a branch of government polling at 11% approval can only help us. And I think I understand now why they poll at that level."

And think about it -- the United States Senate has now elevated MoveOn to its level by taking time out of its "busy" schedule to register an institutional whine about it. MoveOn is an important enough entity to warrant a special "rebuke" from the Senate. Salomon Rushdie couldn't buy this kind of publicity.

I still wish enormous lifetime pain upon all senators who voted for this atrocity.
