Throw all your thoughts on tonight's NH debate in this thread.

Gravel's both comical and occasionally useful, all at the same time.

War with Iran - who knew it was so funny? (0.00 / 0)
Sen. Clinton uses her laugh to dismiss criticism. It's lame.

Sen. Obama (who I support) is lukewarm tonight. I'm suprised more people aren't calling him on missing votes today.

Sen. Edwards is good today.

Sen. Joe Biden is a know it all but I'll forgive it because he just called Rudy Giuliani 'the most ill-informed (misinformed) person in politics.

Sen. Dodd is good as always. It won't matter because people think Connecticut is a weird small state.

Tim Russert is just awful. 'Sanctuary cities', Isreal striking Iran -- if FreeRepublic hosted this debate how exactly would it be any different?

John McCain

Russert (0.00 / 0)
Good thing Russert asked that question about the President being honaray chairman of the Boys Scouts.

I know all the polls show the top issues are...
1) Economy
2) Iraq
3) Health Care
3) Who runs the Boy Scouts

John McCain

I agree with joejoejoe on all his points. Hillary's new loud fakey phoney laugh is beyond irritating. It is dismissive and condescending. She is acting like she has already won the nomination. That's too bad.

I wish they had given more time and better questions to Kucinich, Gravel, and Bill Richardson. Gravel is cranky, but he has a LOT of experience and has a lot of good things to say. They are disrespecting him by making him seem an old candidate worthy of ridicule.

I felt like they were giving Hillary a free pass and I found it really annoying. Obama was anemic and didn't display much presence. Edwards did well as did Dodd and Biden.

I really don't like Hillary. Period. She is ambitious, she is far too calculating and manipulative (did I already mention fakey phoney?).  She has too much power and money behind her. I will never trust that.

This is a democracy and I wish they would let every candidate have a level playing field, equal time and money,  then allow the American public to decide for themselves instead of the MSM shoving one candidate down our throats. The American people are pretty smart and can figure out who is best for the job by themselves.

Someone explain to me... (0.00 / 0)
...how the Democrats expect to be taken seriously as "trying to end the Iraq war" when they're so busy trying to start one with Iran.

And then, if that didn't produce a convoluted enough logic diagram, explain to me how this translates into massive Democratic victories in 2008.

I hate our leadership. Really really really hate our leadership.

Decent Debate (0.00 / 0)
I actually thought it was a pretty good debate and that all of the candidates had at least one good line in the Debate.  I really appreciated Gravel bringing up the vote on Iran today, that was a dangerous vote and Hilary should have to defend her vote in favor of it.

Despite that, I don't think that the debate did much to change voters impressions of the candidate.

Luam, it did change how I felt about the candidates. I found that I liked Hillary even less than I did before I watched the debate.

re: Hilary (0.00 / 0)
I almost said that it made feel like Hilary less, but that is barely possible so I chalked it up to my own biases. I think that the way she looks when she isn't answering questions is really wrong somehow, I don't think she is listening with respect.

I think that these debates elevate most of the field which is not good for the frontrunner.

If I'm John Edwards... (4.00 / 2)
...I start spending some of that money RIGHT NOW on an ad campaign highlighting Hillary's Iran warmongering vote.

I get the feeling it would be quite effective at peeling off her teflon on Iraq among low-information voters. This isn't about a vote five years ago -- this is what's happening RIGHT NOW, right in front of our eyes. If she says she wants to end one war, why does she want to start another?

This is the opening Edwards has been waiting for...

How can you support a Dem that can't promise to bring our troops home from Iraq? (0.00 / 0)
Edwards, Clinton and Obama were terrible on the key question of the campaign.

Why should any Dem support them when they can't promise to get our troops out of Iraq by 2013?

That's pathetic.

We voted in 2006 to end the war.

We aren't voting in 2008 to continue it for another five years.  We have the right to have a President who can look us in the eye and say the war is coming to an end, our troops are coming home.

Richardson won the debate.  He was crystal clear on the most critical issue facing our nation.

How can you be surprised? (0.00 / 0)
They managed to avoid stopping the invasion before it began, didn't they?

Shock is a luxury we can no longer afford.

Phoney troop issue (0.00 / 0)
They did pledge to get the combat troops out. Will Richardson take ALL troops out? That's irresponsible.

Then why don't you enroll in the Army (0.00 / 0)
and asked to be assigned as one of the so-called "non-combat" troops that will stay in Iraq for the next five years trying to keep peace and security for the Iraqi government?  Now does Richardson's plan sound irresponsible?

Until we leave Iraq, American soldiers will continue to die.  I plan on voting for a candidate that doesn't put conditions on whether we'll be withdrawing our troops from Iraq.

And I plan on choosing my candidate based on more than just any one single issue.

To each his own.
