Clinton To Build Up Fox Business News

Chris and I both have mixed feelings about Obama and Clinton.  We've gone over Obama's penchant for attacking progressive media figures who offer him criticism, and his fear-mongering around Social Security.  But on the flip side, Clinton isn't that much better.  Despite her deep understanding of the right-wing noise machine, Clinton is still embracing Fox News.

So far, Wallace has interviewed Sens. Hillary Rodham Clinton, Joe Biden and Chris Dodd and New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson; both Sen. Barack Obama and former North Carolina Sen. Edwards have declined.

Obama froze out Fox News, and Edwards and Obama were the first candidates to drop out of the Fox News debates, with Clinton following on.  And now, this is just weird.

Warren Buffett will be appearing with Sen. Hillary Clinton tomorrow in San Francisco at a fundraiser. And immediately following that campaign stop, Buffett and Clinton will appear together for the first time in an interview with Liz Claman of Fox Business Network. The interview will take place during the 4pmET hour.

Claman will interview the duo live in San Francisco. The topic will be Clinton's tax plan.

Buffett will also be speaking with Claman at 10amET on his decision to host the fundraiser for Clinton. He will then return at 5pmET to discuss the economy and the Fed's decision on interest rates earlier in the day.

Fox Business News is horrible.  I've heard that Dow Jones reporters and Wall Street Journal reporters are jumping ship simply because they don't want to be forced to go onto FBN and want to keep their relationship with CNBC.

Why would Hillary Clinton and Warren Buffett choose FBN as a credible forum?  Buffett is probably the most respected businessman in America, and Clinton is still the frontrunner for the Democratic nomination.  Why choose a right-wing forum with an extremely limited audience, thereby validating another one of Rupert Murdoch's properties?

I can't explain it.  Maybe it's just that this is how the aristocracy works.

Rupert and Hillary ... (4.00 / 1)
Didn't Rupert Murdoch hold a fundraiser for Hillary Clinton -- at the Fox HQ in New York?

Hillary Owes Murdoch (0.00 / 0)
I am ashamed of Buffett and Hillary for going over to the dark side.  Buffett I understand because he is not a real democrat.  Hillary owes Murdoch and my bet is that she is still real chummy with him.  Why the netroots supported Hillary for president is a mystery to me.  My candidte is JRE and has been always JRE.  I think he is what americans need and want right now, and I think he will be true to the progressive causes if he was to be president.  I have a true belief in him.

What are you talking about? .. (0.00 / 0)
Buffet isn't a real Democrat?  Do you know anything about him besides his being worth billions?  He's more of a Democrat than HRC.  He's going on Faux for different reasons.  For him, I think it has more to do with his legacy and talking about his ideas of what business ought to be doing.

Buffett and Clinton are also granting interviews to CNBC all day. No big deal, really. They are getting attention from both business channels. I saw an interview with Buffett this morning on CNBC and he supports both Hillary and Obama with no favorite. His observations on where the economy are going, holiday retail spending and wealth distribution were real welcome to hear from a channel that caters to a greedy-republican-dominated industry.

Just because they're granting interviews to Fox Business isn't such a big deal to me. At least their audience is being forced to listen to the world's most respected investor sing the praises of progressive policies. But no one really watches Fox Business Channel anyway, so who cares?

Well, there's this: (4.00 / 1)
Claman did an hour special on Buffett while she was at CNBC; she's really about the ONLY credible reporter working there, and she might have convinced Buffett to go on with her.

Clinton?  She keeps getting closer to Murdoch, which should disqualify her from the nomination..

The question has always been... (4.00 / 1)
Was Rupert's fundraiser for Hillary a payment to Willie for his media consolidation, or a down payment to Hillary for the next one.

They're asking for another four years -- in a just world, they'd get 10 to 20. ~~ Dennis Kucinich

more than that.... (0.00 / 0)
I think Murdoch's support for Hillary goes a hell of a lot deeper than just her or her husband supporting one or two Newscorp buyouts...

End this war. Stop John McCain. Cindy McCain is filthy rich.

Isn't it obvious? (4.00 / 1)
Ummm, because Clinton, Buffett and Murdoch are all working together to maintain the stranglehold of corporate power in America?

Duh.

Boy do I wish this comment was only sarcasm....

Seriously if you guys haven't come around to a conclusion somewhat similar to this one then you are just being naive.

End this war. Stop John McCain. Cindy McCain is filthy rich.

Hillary has also been on CNBC many times.  I taped her interview with Dylan Ratigan and also another interview with Maria Bartaromo(sp).  CNBC has it's share of very strong Republican talking-heads by the way.  Have you ever heard of Larry Kudlow?  Ever read the crap he writes about Democrats?

Matt, I think you are making a mountain out of a molehill.  And why shouldn't the Dem candidate who places the most importance on fiscal responsibility appear on as many money shows as possible?

Don't ever under estimate Fox Biz Channel (0.00 / 0)
Fox Business has been on the air less than three or four months. I remember how we used to laugh at Fox News when it first appeared. CNN was king.
Not any more. Fox News dominates cable news. I would not be surprised that in time Fox Business will do the same because Murdock is not bashful to spend money on talent. Besides Fox Business will become the television arm of the Wall Street Journal. How do you spell "DOMINATE".

Clinton in '08. Or give Carter a 2nd term. Vote for Obama!

I would like to point out.... (0.00 / 0)
... that Ruppert Murdoch has personally donated thousands and thousands of dollars directly to Clinton election campaigns. I thought everybody knew this. Clinton is the Fox News Democratic candidate of choice, and has been for some time (I was quite surprised when Clinton agreed to boycott the Fox debate with the rest of the Democrats)

End this war. Stop John McCain. Cindy McCain is filthy rich.

...Hillary is going into the mouth of the tiger to show that even though she is universally loathed by the people who would watch Fox news that maybe she can win them with well-reasoned discourse and the easy charm she can bring at times.

...I figure fat chance, but having dealt with the Rabid Right in my own family, I think there is a certain "well at least she had the balls to show up" that might be obtainable for her with this crowd.

...Although I would recommend that absolutely NO Dems appear on that despicable propaganda network, there is still a substantial portion of this country that wants to think that the next president can work with both sides regardless of how unlikely the reality will be.
