McCain Agrees with Paris Hilton on Need for Energy Compromise

This could be a major error from McCain.

Due to the extraordinary number of inquiries, please see our campaign's response to Paris Hilton's recently released video in which she puts forward her version of an energy plan:

"It sounds like Paris Hilton supports John McCain's 'all of the above' approach to America's energy crisis - including both alternatives and drilling.  Paris Hilton might not be as big a celebrity as Barack Obama, but she obviously has a better energy plan." ---Tucker Bounds, spokesman John McCain 2008

McCain has already argued that we need all sorts of energy solutions, it is in fact a major talking point for the right.

"Solving our national energy crisis requires...an 'all of the above' approach," McCain said. "That'll require aggressive development of alternative energies like wind, solar, tide and biofuels. It also requires expanding traditional sources of energy such as offshore drilling."

So what kind of compromise does McCain support?  Does he support the Gang of 10 in the Senate, which raises taxes on oil companies and funds alternative energy?

These are questions he's now going to have to answer.

He responded to Paris Hilton?!?!?!? (0.00 / 0)
This is a joke, right?

He's on the record (0.00 / 0)
saying that he doesn't support the Gang of 10.

A spokesman for Sen. McCain said that while he "applauds the bipartisan effort," he wouldn't support the proposal because "he cannot and will not support legislation that raises taxes."

I'd have to find the numbers, but in 2007 removing Big Oil tax breaks for investment in renewables (which was part of the Democrats' 6 for 06 campaign) polled at around 70%.
