John McCain: The Hero of John McCain's Tech Policy

David  Weinberger and Harold Feld both dispatch with McCain's tech policy specifics.  Basically, it's not a tech policy, it's just handing over the internet to corporate interests along with some tax credits for research.

But enough about all those details, let's move straight to mocking the insanely narcissistic sub-headings of every part of the plan.  The most significant part of the plan is his opposition to net neutrality, a section he describes under this heading.

When Regulation Is Warranted, John McCain Acts

Seriously, this is approaching Chuck Norris-level aggrandizement.  How delusional does this guy have to be to imagine himself the hero of every situation he's in, to the point that he has to frame himself as a white knight on regulating packet shaping over the internet?  I'm actually kind of impressed.

Here are the rest of the sub-headings.  They are of course not about technology, they are about John McCain.

Arrogant, anyone? (0.00 / 0)
What a joke. So John McCain will win wars, kill Bin Laden, solve every tech crisis, revive the economy, and force Russia to back down just by using his heroic willpower.

He's really the most presumptuous and arrogant candidate I can remember. He just needs to start talking in the third person like Bob Dole and the image is complete.

Most items on that list are too vague to mean anything.  But one stands out - "Lower the corporate tax rate to 25%". That's the huge tax cut for Exxon and other big business companies that Obama has been talking about. It's mind boggling that we'd cut taxes for corporate America while we are running a $500 billion deficit.  And yet "John McCain Will Balance the Budget" so I guess it's all good.

Oh, don't worry. (0.00 / 0)
Net neutrality is sure to be a big issue in the debates (along with global warming and peak oil, of course). And when John McCain is revealed as carrying water for corporate interests.... Well! You can be sure that the media will hold his feet to the fire!

Presumptuous (4.00 / 1)
I'm beginning to understand why the media was in a mad rush to tag Obama as the presumptuous candidate.  If they waited any longer, the public would have discovered that McCain takes presumptuous to a whole new level.

Yes, But Does The Plan Come With A John McCain Action Figure? (4.00 / 1)
Because if it doesn't, I'm just not buying it.

"You know what they say -- those of us who fail history... doomed to repeat it in summer school." -- Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Season 6, Episode 3

It does! (4.00 / 2)
And not only that, but you can also get McCain's arch-nemesis: "The Googler!"

John McCain Will Protect The Creative Industries From Piracy

Does that included protecting said creative industries from himself?

Jackson Browne is suing John McCain for copyright infringement for using his son in an Obama attack ad.  Add that in to the growing list of such celebrities including Mike Myers, John Mellancamp, and John Hall.
