Bush Administration Leaks Details of an Immigration Case to Hurt Obama

That's the story you should see, but won't.  Instead you'll see a barrage of stories about Obama's half aunt, who is in this country illegally after being denied asylum a few years ago.  The Republicans believe the government exists to bring them more power and wealth, and crimes against Democrats - overtly - for political purposes are the norm, not the exception.

Obama needs to prosecute these people or they'll do it again.  And yes, the media is completely complicit in this, missing the real story, which is the utter abuse of power by Republicans.

Matt, wrong place... (0.00 / 0)
Nobody here cares about this story. Nobody needs an explanation. It's a yawner and you're just taking their bait, just like the MSM.

Wrong place? ... (4.00 / 3)
wrong place to expose Bushies and the AP for unethical behavior? .. wrong to expose Ron Fournier .. Liz "Sprinkles" Sidoti and Nedra Pickler for the pox on Democracy that they are?

Obviously... (4.00 / 1)
it's the right place to do that, but not at the cost of keeping the story alive. This is a complete distraction from the issues that helped Obama. If the media goes on to focus on who leaked during the next two days, it will only hurt Obama. Sometimes you gotta know when to shut it for your own good.

Shut what down? .. (0.00 / 0)
shut down exposing frauds and fools for who they are?  the lizard brains(in this case the AP) already have their marching orders from the RNC .. or where ever the lizard brains get their marching orders from ... sometimes you gotta smoke out the cockroaches .. you can't be worried about when it happens

Rep. Conyers Writes to Chertoff Re Leaks (4.00 / 2)
TPM has the letter:

Dear Mr. Chertoff:

I was startled to read in today's Associated Press that a "federal law enforcement official" has leaked information about an immigration case involving a relative of Senator Obama. Even more troubling, the AP reports that it could not "could not establish whether anyone at a political level in the Bush administration or in the McCain campaign had been involved," a very disturbing suggesting indeed. This leak is deplorable and I urge you to take immediate action to investigate and discipline those responsible.

I note that this is not the first leak of law enforcement information apparently designed to influence the coming Presidential election -- in recent weeks law enforcement sources leaked information about an alleged investigation of a community services organization, a leak that the Department of Justice informs me is now under investigation by the Department's Office of the Inspector General and Professional Responsibility.

Such leaks are deeply harmful to the political process, and the American people expect and deserve better from their government and its law enforcement agencies.

Sincerely,

John Conyers, Jr.

This is another example of how the Republicans use the government to hold on to power.  And, they call Obama a Communist?

I applaud Matt for his post.

Great post...I am looking forward to hopefully turning the page on this administration.

half aunt (0.00 / 0)
ok i'll bite. what the hell is a half aunt?

I think she's his father's half-sister (0.00 / 0)
which makes the story even more useless. If Obama has met his father only once, what makes the MSM/Republicans think he has a close relationship with this woman (or that he knew she was undocumented and chose to do nothing about it)?
