I've actually been buying some Google ads myself... it seems to help with the quality score if the URL contains search keywords. That was part of the motive for jumping on this URL.

I'd like to see your ads, if you have them up somewhere.

And it's not rocket science and not that expensive either. There are legions of IP lawyers and consultants who specialize in just this thing. Guess whose Senate campaign never hired one?

As an AdWords user, are you using Google Analytics to track how people are getting to and using your site? You can install it for free. If you're already using it, focus on which ads affect your Bounce Rate (you want to keep it low) and Page Views (you want to keep it high). This info,in addition to click-throughs, lets you cull out ineffective ads and focus on the ones that get you the best results.
