SCHIP Pases House, 289-139 (Chris Bowers)
See the roll call here. The trifecta is starting out as a real steamroller. With five Democrats not voting, this is a bill that would have passed even without Presidential support.

The change of power is stark, and fantastic.

Bobby Bright and Jim Marshall only Dem nays
not surprising.  I'm sure voting against children's healthcare will endear them to their conservative districts.

I'm much happier about the number of Republicans we're pulling, and not just the usual ones.

What I want to know
The Republicans who hopped on the SCHIP bandwagon this go around who voted to deny 10 million children health care last year:

Both Diaz-Balarts
Frelinghuysen
McCotter
Rogers
Ros-Lehtinen

Shame on you all...where was the courageous when we needed you.

Los Tres Cubanos
It's interesting that the 3 S. Florida Cubans are all on this list, after they all got fairly serious electoral scares in 2008. Maybe they're reacting to the increasing moderation of the Cuban-American community, especially the younger members of that community?

Which is why
it infuriates me when the DCCC passes on supposedly "safe" Republicans.  In all honesty, we never had a chance against Ros-Lehtinen.  But she's been voting a lot better ever since the scare.  We could prod a bunch of Republicans into supporting our legislation this way.

wouldn't attribute this to a "change of power"...
this is basically the same legislation the passed during the bush administration -- with about the same number of defecting republicans. the only difference -- bush vetoed it -- twice. thug. so now, it won't get vetoed, but congress passed it twice before.
