AFL-CIO won't back Specter if he votes no on EFCA (kbuck)
ABC's Rick Klein reports that AFL-CIO head Trumka emphasized his members will not support Specter if he does not support them (i.e., EFCA).

Greg Sargent adds some thoughts

Trumka for Senator
If only we could convince Rich Trumka to run for Senator.

Seriously though, this is great news.  The AFL-CIO (and likely CtW) would not be this public about Specter accountability if there weren't some wiggle room with the Rendell machine in PA for the (D) primary.

Labor doesn't need Rendell...
Labor's infrastructure is strong enough to compete with the Rendell machine... in fact, I'm sure that labor has been a significant part of the Rendell machine...

I think that a labor/netroots candidate can adequately compete against a Rendell machine candidate...

REID: Voting against us was never part of our arrangement!
SPECTER: I am altering the deal! Pray I don't alter it any further!
REID: This deal keeps getting worse all the time!
