The roundup is coming a day late and a dollar short this week, as I've been on the road. Since I've been away from regular internet access during this last week, I'm again abbreviating the roundup to the links that various state bloggers have e-mailed to me. Next week should see the roundup's return to its full former glory.
Also, a reminder. If you ever want to peruse state and local news through the eyes of progressive bloggers on the ground, you should definitely check out 50stateblognetwork.com. Steve Hanson of Uppity Wisconsin has created an aggregrator that pulls diaries from state and local blogs that have opted in, building a one-stop shop for local and state stories.
And now, the roundup!
Missouri: Michael Bersin and Blue Girl cover Obama's visit to Kansas City and have extensive coverage of the NAACP convention. .Sean continues on the Peter Kinder beat, tracking donors to Kinder's anti-healthcare reform lawsuit fund.
Virginia: Not Larry Sabato and BlueVirginia are all over the Democratic state delegate lobbyist retreat. And Edward James Olmos records an ad for the NRDC taking on Senator James Webb.
Texas: TXSharon posts her statement at the EPA hydraulic fracturing meeting.
Alabama: At Left in Alabama, a rightwing Republican is actually asking for Democratic crossover votes in his primary.
Rhode Island: Brian Hull at Rhode Island's Future critiques Obama's economic policies.
Wisconsin: Zach Wisnewski at Blogging Blue interviews longshot Democratic candidate for governor Tim John.
Michigan: Howie Klein reports on Blue America's endorsement of Dr. Fred Johnson for the seat being vacated by Pete Hoekstra. And Club for Growth makes trouble in a winnable seat for Democrats.
Florida: Howie Klein also discusses the state GOP chair's problems with domestic abuse.
Ohio: Plunderbund writes about the Kasich campaign. getting caught for astroturfing a protest of his opponent.
This week's roundup will be a little bit abbreviated, as I'm on the road this week to visit family in Oklahoma. Always interesting, of course, as we're spending the first few days in the "single stoplight town" of Checotah, OK, which has since added a stoplight to accommodate the new Super WalMart near the highway. And thus ends the first and last Carrie Underwood reference on OpenLeft.
Already I've seen several commercials for the gubernatorial candidates running to see who will replace term-limited Democrat Brad Henry. Democratic nominee candidate Lt. Gov Jari Askins has a good one on women in the workplace:
And Republican Democratic rival Drew Edmonson wants to drill, baby drill and frack, baby, frack:
Anyways, because I'm on the road with limited time to trawl through each state's blogosphere for links, this week's roundup will be limited to only the bloggers who sent me links for consideration. Please feel free to add any important state and local stories in comments!
Update: On Twitter, a few savvy Oklahomans have warned me that not only is Drew Edmondson not a Republican, he actually has the endorsement of the Sierra Club. Apparently both candidates' energy policy leaves something to be desired. I stand by my characterization of both ads, though I obviously apologize for the error in naming a longtime Democrat as the GOP nominee.
On the eve of the South Carolina primary, those of us near the state are busy canvassing, calling and doing everything we can to stay on top of the local news. Earlier today I pulled up every online newspaper I could find listed for the state and found that the local news was doing a better job than the national media at portraying the race for the Democratic presidential nomination as a three person race.
John Edwards had plenty of press in the local news with at least one or two of the larger papers touting his rise in the polls and a couple of the smaller ones still reporting last week's news. It was interesting to see that some papers showed only pictures of Clinton and Edwards and at least one paper showed only Barack Obama. Since online "front pages" change frequently, I obviously only had a snapshot of what was being shown at that particular time. However, if it was indicative of the mood of voters in South Carolina, might the national press and the pundits that bloviate therein be out of touch with what's really going on in South Carolina? I guess we'll find out tomorrow.
In the meantime, your bloggers at the 50 State Blog Network have been busy. Here's your roundup for this week:
Here is your roundup for the eve of the Nevada Caucuses. Scroll to the bottom and head on over to My Silver State for some excellent and balanced (they actually admit John Edwards exists) coverage of the top three Democratic candidates.
The writers at the state blogs are working hard to bring us the latest on the Dem congressional candidates. Check them out, especially if you live in a very red district and need a Democrat to adopt.
North Carolina NC-03 candidate Marshall Adame is receiving hate mail from BLACKWATER supporters in his district. A good sign for Democrats that Marshall is on the right side of the issue.
Once again the writers at the state community blogs are busy staying on top of local and state news and bringing local flavor to national news. It takes longer each week to pull this together because I find myself caught up in reading the excellent coverage provided by these state blogs.
Find an interesting post and jump in the conversation. If you don't see your state represented here, check out the state blogroll at OpenLeft.com or MyDD.
New Mexico A local reporter created the Muckraker's Guide to New Mexico, a great resource for any aspiring muckraker in the Land of Enchantment.

Things are heating up in Iowa and New Hampshire as the two states are flooded with volunteers from across the country. Many of us who can't physically be in early primary states to knock on doors are helping to call voters. What are you doing to prepare for primary season?
Here is an abbreviated list of important stories from our 50 State Blog network. Holiday travel and unexpected plans have prevented a more thorough roundup, but make sure you visit the state blogs listed in the right sidebar at Open Left and the left sidebar at MyDD.
In all the mad rush surrounding this time of year bloggers at the 50 State community blogs are busy staying on top of local news. It's a bit shorter than last week, but should give you some good reading over the weekend.
A personal thank you to Karl for putting together a comprehensive roundup for us last week and for helping me pull together submissions for this week.
Here's your 50 State Blog Roundup for the week of December 21, 2007:

Today's 50-state blog roundup is brought to you by the letters B, N, and C - BlueNC. Major, major hat-tip to Betsy, who really did all the work. If you aren't reading your state's blog, you should be, because "all politics is local" should be more than a motto. This is an interesting week, the Presidential Primary is heating up in the early states (see below), while Virginia holds a special election next Tuesday. At the same time state legislatures seem to be trying and sneak in some iffy legislation before the holiday season. Enjoy!
Happy Thanksgiving and Black Friday everyone. This roundup is a bit shorter than usual, but we will be back to full speed next week. There is some great blogging going on in the states, so take a look and jump in where you can.

The first Beatle to die tragically young once said, "life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans." Life is also what happens when we're not blogging. In the better late than never category, life has finally gotten out of the way to allow this week's 50 State Blog Roundup to emerge.
If your favorite 50 State Blog member is missing from this week's roundup, I promise no slight is intended. It just means no one had a chance to nominate a post for the week.
You can help make sure that doesn't happen again in the future. You can submit a nomination for any blog listed at the BlogPAC state blog roll via the nifty automated nomination system prepared by Ralph Bordie. Give it a try next week.
This is going to be a long weekend, and there are lots of great stories from around the blogosphere to keep you busy. In honor of the Labor Day holiday, we will start off with some posts about workers. This week's roundup is brought to you by Mooncat of Left in Alabama. If any blogs were accidentally left out, be assured that it's due to incompetence rather than malice.
Utah In Utah, Tower mine co-owner Bob Murray has laid off 300 mine workers. Wasatch Watcher's marshall has the story. Way to celebrate Labor day, Mr. Murray!
Wisconsin Uppity Wisconsin is looking at Fighting Bob Fest as a good opportunity for activists concerned about factory farms to get organized.
Georgia MoreLights takes American Eagle to task for not using its money, power and influence to ensure the workers at its contractor's warehouse are treated fairly and justly.
