Obama Is Conservative.

Matt Stoller pointed out that Obama is conservative, and I thought I'd highlight exactly how conservative Obama really is, and really let my frustrations out about the Repub Democratic candidate Barack Obama.
Brad O'Donnell :: Obama Is Conservative.
Since declaring for President, this person has called Social Security a 'crisis'...
It doesn't get more conservative than this, does it? We should of course forget that young people, who Obama has been trying court, are those that expect in the lowest numbers to receive full benefits by the time they come of age. Here's a little article from when Bush was promoting his stock market plan.

But due to Obama's conservatism, we'll assume he's too stupid for that -- planning is not a conservative's forte.

...attacked trial lawyers...
Obama sunk really low at this point. You don't even have to be an uber-Edwards defender to see through this horse shit.

While Edwards was taking on huge corporations, Barack was doing insignificant work, what, in Chicago? As we all know, making millions as a trial lawyer (not a corporate lawyer where one could make tens of millions, that's just greedy) is better because now Edwards knows how to take on big interests.

How? That doesn't matter, what matters is trial lawyers fight for the little guy (Barack was fighting for the really little guys in Chicago, what a poser) and stand up for what we progressives truly believe: making sure McDonald's pays for not putting a caution label on their coffee.

...associated unapologetically with vicious homophobes...
What a rat.
I mean, seriously. When someone is stuck between a rock and a hard place, like when that piece of crap McClurkin started bad-mouthing gays like he did, Obama should have done what we wanted him to do. Denounce the man, and let everyone in America know: we do not accept people that do not accept people. It is completely unacceptable to accept someone that doesn't accept someone, except when someone doesn't accept someone we don't accept. We are not a big-tent party; if you are an all-around progressive but you aren't comfortable with homosexuality, you can go where you belong, Republican.

...portrayed Gore and Kerry as excessively polarizing losers...
Despite the fact that in both elections everyone blathered about how they were going to vote for the "lesser of two evils," Barack is wrong again and he's conservative.

Let me highlight again that conservatives tend to be, well, stupid. So it's natural for Barack, a conservative, to go up against Gore, another conservative (or maybe Nader was lying? Whatever). John Kerry was the most boring candidate since "uncommitted" beat Jimmy Carter in Iowa, but that doesn't give Barack the right to criticize him. Gore was boring too. But politics isn't about energy or auras or excitement, it isn't a video game. If politics were exciting, it might get young people to vote, God forbid.

...boasted as his central achievement an irrelevant ethics bill...
There will be no baby steps, Mr. Conservat-- I mean, Obama. We want full change, right now. President Bush and slim senatorial majority be damned, Obama. If you aren't singlehandedly fueling the progressive engine, you're a phony. If only you were like Dennis Kucinich, maybe we would support you. Good thing Kucinich would never support the likes of you.

...ran against the DC establishment while taking huge amounts of cash from DC...
Not just a conservative, but a hypocrite too!?! How dare Obama take donations from people in and around DC. How dare he? Even though he gave back 50,000 dollars a fund raising cycle because they were from PAC or corporate lobbyists, this still clearly makes him a hypocrite. Um, because, there aren't any, uh, rich people in DC! Everyone knows this, how could Obama have gotten that much money from that general geographic area?

...undermined Ned Lamont in 2006...
Clearly, due to Barack not openly endorsing and campaigning for Lamont for Senate, Obama is a conservative that is in all likelihood a closet Republican.

...criticized NAFTA while voting for a NAFTA-style trade agreement...
NAFTA, the trade agreement crafted by Republicans with little to no labor or environmental standards as part of it, is exactly the same as the Peru free trade agreement, which was crafted by Democrats and does indeed have labor and environmental standards in them. What makes you conservative, Mr. Barack Hussein Obama, is that you support free trade at all. The economy would do much better if we isolated ourselves and completely ignore that free trade, according to the United Nations, is what has largely pulled poor people out of extreme poverty.

All you care about is yourself, Obama.

...compiled opposition research on the most effective liberal pundit in the country...
Although he never "compiled research" against Krugman, and even though Krugman is a progressive in the way that HRC is a progressive, it's horrible to attack people that attack you, Mr. Obama. Krugman is a god, just like all progressive entities. We do not criticize gods, Obama, for they are sacred. Progressive voices are so few and far between we have to keep the few we have alive, no matter how mediocre they are.

...refused to promise that American troops would be out of Iraq by 2013...
Once again, typical conservative Obama. Instead of making promises he know he might not be able to keep (seeing as unforeseen circumstances in Iraq might arise), he takes the other route, which is to be honest. We progressives live with our heads in the clouds, Obama. We don't want to hear what we might need to hear, Barack. We want to hear fluff. If you were progressive, like us, you'd know this.

...and endorsed the central plank of the Bush-Cheney foreign policy doctrine, the war on terror.
As you know, Barack, progressives don't endorse terror in any form. However, we are definitely not willing to do anything about it. Even if you meant we need to do things like reduce dependence on foreign oil, reduce troop levels in Iraq, or build schools instead of training grounds, we are going to take it that you meant more guns and fighting and killing. We are a one-dimensional people, Barack. We know what you meant when you raised your hand for that question, even though you hesitated, because we know you're conservative.

I think that's all for now.
Matt, feel free to point out any other glaring features that prove Barack Obama is a conservative.
These points are obviously strong enough, and are completely irrefutable. But in case you stumble upon others, make sure to post them. Keep linking to partisan websites as sources, too, because as we all know, anti-Obama websites are the best places to get factual Obama information.

Brad, this was the prefect touch of 'smart-ass' response. If Obama is a conservative to Stoller, we are leaving in an alternate universe indeed!

Well played (0.00 / 0)
I've starting typing responses to all these purported "outrages" several times, but rarely had the energy to actually follow through - knowing I was fighting a losing battle.  Great job pointing out how inane these criticisms really are.

Indeed. (0.00 / 0)
Losing battle or not, I can't take all the bullshit anymore. Stoller here at OpenLeft and Armstrong over at MyDD hardly do anything substantive anymore -- and it isn't just pro-Edwards. I can handle pro-Edwards. It's also anti-Obama, and most of the points they have against Obama are not grounded in truth, facts, or objectivity.

No No No Brad... (0.00 / 0)
I can smell the reek of what some may call "satire". I call it a laughable attempt at being sarcastic.

I know that Obama is more conservative than one may think. In fact he be one to the bone. I mean, free trade? That truly is conservative bullshit that goes against progressive values.

I mean you want to know what "free trade" has brought us all? Only sorrow. I mean look at all those sweatshops around the world. Its blasphemy I tell you. Its all the corporation's fault that all this shit is happening around the world. Its not the country's government's fault that they have no environmental standards or human rights. Its the corporations responsibility to not make money, but to make everyone happy. I argue that the entire point of for-profit corporations is to help others rather than making them slaves. Now sure, some of you argue "but they did the job because they want to". My ass, they have other opportunities, I'm sure that we can take a sweatshop worker across the world with only a fourth grade education and make him a Technological Consultant for an IT Firm.

I mean this is what makes him conservative; taking an economics course in University.

Universities should stop teaching economics.

Wow. (0.00 / 0)
You said it, Anarcho. Free trade has caused countless numbers of people to rise above subsistence in third-world countries, but this is America, we only care about ourselves and our jobs. We are not willing to work for less money and discontinue living beyond our means, and we shouldn't have to, because we're, um, the greatest country on earth.

It's good to see another progressive making sense.

A Progressive VS Free Trade = Epic Lulz (0.00 / 0)
For that very reason alone. Free trade inadvertently brings progression to a society. I mean look at China and India.

Progressive - Free Trade = Objectively a Conservative Douche

And its selfish too as you mentioned it. However people want to stay in the stone ages. I mean you watched the Google Obama and Google McCain interview? Both of them mentioned how there were lights flickering across the world. These lights represented which areas had internet connections. Africa had only a few specks.

Saddening. The reason why is that many areas are war ravaged. It prevents foreign investment to those places.

As much as I am a critic of corporate ethics, the anti-free trade movement/pro-fair trade movement is retarded.

If you want to change this world, you don't protest at anti-globalization rallies. Want to help the poor in third world countries? Open up a garment factory.

This is Great (0.00 / 0)
Just great.  It reminds me of the Colbert report, it is mocking something so ridiculous, that it may take a while to realize it is mocking the ridiculous argument.  GREAT JOB!

Overload (0.00 / 0)
I'm obviously in in overload when it comes to reading attacks on Obama today.  It wasn't until I read the other comments I realized this was a parody.  Most of the attacks are so stupid yet look exactly like this.  Good job.  I think.

(you are joking, right??  just checking.)

Haha! (0.00 / 0)
Yes yes, just joking.
It's like "laughing liberally to keep from crying." I could either sit here and do nothing, ignoring my frustration like Harry Reid, or I could grow a pair and shove back.

So I decided to shove back my figuratively kissing Stoller on the lips. :)
