Superdelegate Round-up

Another ten–count ’em, ten–superdelegates have either made endorsements today, been named today, or switched their endorsements today. Here is a run-down:

  • Clinton picks up the four add-on delegates from New York. No surprise there.  Clinton 4-0 Obama.
  • Obama picks up the three add-ons from Illinois. Again, no surprise, although they won’t be officially superdelegates until Monday. Clinton 4-3 Obama
  • Obama picks up Texas super John Patrick. Obama 4-4 Clinton.
  • Clinton super John Andrew switches to Obama. That makes it Obama 5-3 Clinton.
  • Superdelegate John Olsen endorses Clinton, making the margin Obama 5-4 Clinton.

But wait, there’s more! Here is some worthwhile future add-on delegate information I can now confirm:

That covers another eight superdelegates, breaking 5-3 in favor of Obama. Adding the three Illinois supers who will be officially chosen on Monday, that makes for another eight Obama supers and three Clinton supers to add onto Democratic Convention Watch’s totals. With a current count of Clinton 265-244 Obama, that creates a grand total of Clinton 268-252 Obama, with 274 undecided. Throw on the Pelosi Club delegates, and the totals are Clinton 267-258 Obama, with 269 either undecided or not yet named.

At this point, it seems like only a matter of time before Obama takes the lead in superdelegates. I would be very surprised if he doesn’t lead in superdelegates before June 1st.

Left out 1 SD for Clinton (0.00 / 0)
Connecticut’s AFL-CIO president, John Olsen, came out in favor of Clinton today (I don’t have a particularly fond opinion of him after his uselessness in the Lieberman-Lamont race).

While Obama will probably narrow the lead into single digits by the end of May, I would be surprised if he takes the lead before Montana and South Dakota vote on June 3rd – at which point he will probably have an outpouring of support that will put him over the 2,024 needed.

Thanks! (0.00 / 0)
I knew there was one for Clinton–I just couldn’t find out who it was. Thanks for hte tip.

Bob Brady (0.00 / 0)
Another one not included in DemConWatch’s totals is Rep. Bob Brady (Pa.), who has indicated that he will vote with his district (i.e., for Obama).

Donna Brazile is also pretty clearly in the Pelosi club, but not included by DemConWatch for obscure reasons.

herman "Denny" Farrell is for Clinton not uncommitted (0.00 / 0)
I have now left this information with Tremayne on this blog and with Dem Convention Watch.

Last night was the NY State Convention.  I saw Denny…he’s hard to miss…he’s very tall….and asked him why he’s listed as uncommitted…He said that some Blog had it wrong….he is a Hillary Clinton supporter and has been for some time….that makes her number 266.

He asked me to tell the blogs that he’s a Super for Sen. Clinton …..so hopefully from his mouth to somebody’s list.

Confirmation (0.00 / 0)
Have him contact DemConWatch himself, assuming he’s not wanting to be quoted in the media, which is what they use for almost all their confirmations. Not surprisingly DemConWatch doesn’t accept random blog comments as verification of a superdelegate’s position,
