Politico: Obama to Announce 3 Year Discretionary Spending Freeze at SOTU?! (rayj)

What the hell?!?!? Let's hope this is some kind of sick, sick joke. If true, then this makes the prospect of a double dip recession exponentionally more likely.

President Obama plans to announce a three-year freeze on discretionary, "non-security" spending in the lead-up Wednesday's State of the Union address, Hill Democratic sources familiar with the plan tell POLITICO.

Polls consistently show that the deficit is the #1 thing that people are concerned with... Oh wait, no... they don't.

Depends...

On what they are calling discretionary... If its a freeze on things like earmarks, that's one thing... if its a freeze on spending for job creation, etc... that's quite another. I'm hoping for the former.

...you just wait and see. What, with this conservative spending freeze and the commission to gut entitlements, bipartisanship will rain down like manna from heaven.

Other than the fact that we haven't invaded Iran, I can see no reason to support this guy in 2012. But it's deeper than Obama - he's merely a symptom of where the Democratic Party has gone over the past 20 years.
