I'm chatting about my new book, The Progressive Revolution, with Nicole Belle over at Crooks and Liars right now (1 PM EST) for the next hour. Nicole tells me she's worked up some really challenging questions about the lack of progressive leadership in Congress, the legacy of Tom Paine, "post-partisanship", and more.

Stop on over and say hi.

John McCain just came out and railed against "spending" and the bill and how it's too much spending and whatever.

...and applause exploded from up in the galley...not from other Senators...but people watching.

Why the hell would anyone applaud that? Are there seriously people out there who think we shouldn't spend any money? What is wrong with this country?

I wouldn't be surprised to see them use it as a way to spin that the public hates spending.

the spending multipliers paul has written many diaries on

if you stay silent, the public can only start going against you

We need to attract attention, like Krugman did today by titling his article "On the Edge"...it got him airtime.

Slightly OT: Is anyone watching John Kerry on the floor of the Senate...where the fuck was this guy in 2004?
