The problems we face will not be solved by the minds that created them.An aphorism usually attributed to Einstein. The utterly brilliant Newton could not have conceived of relativity. It is possible he could have conceived of field theory, but not relativity.
Obama's linguistic syntax has been great up to now. But fix conveys the wrong concept and perception of the problem.(See Benjamin Lee Whorf.) We are facing the abyss and it is paradigm change or disaster.
This is not the 1930's. The only similarity is that capitalism is up against the wall once again. FDR saved it but now it cannot be saved again. Capitalism must morph into something else or we are finished. Perhaps our ongoing definition of capitalism has been tainted. I don't know. I always liked what was called hippie capitalism, but that model won't cover world commerce and neither will gold. So what next?
My suggestion is to get Krugman, Galbraith, Soros, Buffett, Robert Reich, Roubini and put them in a room, shut and lock the door, pocket the key. Make sure they have shower facilities and changes of clothes. Tell them they can't come out until they solve our dilemma. They can have their wired laptops and Blackberries and demand anyone else they want to come in with them. Pick them up in a Black Maria and add them to the group.
I have no doubt that this thinktank can do it. Please ask them to participate.
