- Sarah Palin defends advice to teabaggers to "reload" as a use of hunting terminology. Hunting terminology? Okay, so now she's telling her unhinged wingnut followers that they're supposed to be hunting us. I don't see how that's better.

- Perhaps sensing that they were headed towards a world of PR hurt, the health insurance companies have quashed their underwriting instincts and promised to mostly comply with the spirit of fixes to children's coverage eligibility that would have allowed them to avoid covering more children with pre-existing conditions until 2014.

- How to really succeed at bipartisanship.

- Obama says health care bill is a first step, but more cost-cutting measures need to be added. Hey, what about more people-covering measures?

- Everybody gets an energy star.

- In a recession where all the states are hurting for money, the administration gave Delaware and Tennessee school systems a large cash infusion, apparently because their states were willing to jump through hoops like poodles with caffeine jitters.

- It turns out to be really easy to reduce plastic shopping bag use.

- Home prices have started rising just a bit, though that might be due to the impending end of the home buyers' tax credit. Any bullishness should probably also be tempered by the reminder last week that second mortgages are proving an obstacle to helping underwater mortgage borrowers.

- When political words have often stopped having meanings, it's time to talk about what capitalism and socialism are.

- It can be hard to date while feminist.

- The CERN Large Hadron Collider has smashed its first high-energy beams together. While it's too early to get meaningful results, researchers are excited by the data they're collecting, and also over a successful test that pushed the limits of what they'd previously been able to observe.

- The Pentagon has ended tuition help for military spouses. WTF!?

- Sometimes, even Bill McKibben gets a little low over our environmental prospects, but he's getting right back to work.

- Wow, you actually can get fired as a Republican. First there was Frum, who committed the grave offense of saying something true. Now there's bondage strip club guy. So anyone thinking of joining the other side for the money, just be aware that while you can keep your job if you get caught wearing diapers with hookers and high on blow, while you can keep your job if you obstruct justice, while you can keep your job if you mishandle classified information, remember that the entertainment of your fellow freaks and perverts needs to go on your own credit card.

remember that the entertainment of your fellow freaks and perverts needs to go on your own credit card.

It just can't go on to an FEC-reported account, that's all.

Plenty of other places to get the cash.  These guys have just gotten sloppy and lazy is all.  It happens after 8 years of everything being totally protected all the time.
