Matthew 25:

31 "When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory. 32 All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.

34 "Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.'

37 "Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?'

40 "The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'

Deal with it, so-called Christians.  Or else...

41 "Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.'

44 "They also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?'

45 "He will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.'

46 "Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life."

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter, Paul. (4.00 / 2)
Did you know the cottontail rabbit is going extinct?  Only 1,000 left.   They can barely see, so they are easy prey for hawks, cayotes, etc.

They're asking for another four years -- in a just world, they'd get 10 to 20. ~~ Dennis Kucinich

OMG, I Had No Idea! (4.00 / 3)
And yet, blind politicians are anything but extinct, even though they, too, are "easy prey for hawks, cayotes, etc."

Go figure.

Someone check the school bibles in Texas (4.00 / 3)
Did they remove this passage from Matthew?

Happy Easter from someone who likes to think of themselves as Christian.

And just to be inclusive of all religions: Happy Mithras Day!

MLK (4.00 / 4)
With the Vatican's talk comparing persecution by the NY Times to the persecution Jews have faced from Catholic anti-semitism, it is ironic today is the 32nd anniversary of King's assasination. That on this Easter King would be more Christian and Christ-like in the example of his life than the Pope.

This probably is my favorite passage in the New Testament because it calls people to embrace The Other, to not settle for our own comfort. That's a message that transcends all religions, indeed, all political factions and all cultures and all economic groups.

Exodus 22:21 (4.00 / 7)
"Thou shalt neither vex a stranger, nor oppress him: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt. "

I still maintain that if anyone ever took this religion stuff halfway serious it would turn the world upside down.

to pre-emptively turn this religion stuff upside down, instead.

If only I believed (0.00 / 0)
that they believed
in that
or else.

Well that would account for Mark 14:46-52 (4.00 / 1)
And they laid their hands on him, and took him. And one of them that stood by drew a sword, and smote a servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear. And Jesus answered and said unto them, Are ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and with staves to take me? I was daily with you in the temple teaching, and ye took me not: but the scriptures must be fulfilled. And they all forsook him, and fled. And there followed him a certain young man, having a linen cloth cast about his naked body; and the young men laid hold on him: And he left the linen cloth, and fled from them naked.

Happy Easter! (4.00 / 4)
I am so proud of my gay-marrying, gay bishop-appointing Episcopal Church. Jesus would be absolutely welcome among us (and we wouldn't even expect him to convert, because that's just gauche.)

I'm not sure if you are mocking Christians on Easter ... (0.00 / 0)
Please clarify your position.

No, as my fellow Episcopalian Sadie makes implicit, we eat this stuff up. n/t (4.00 / 1)
