Military Families Want Out--Of Iraq

LA Times: "Bush loses ground with military families: A majority disapprove of the president's handling of the war in Iraq and are more in line with the views of the general public."

It turns out that military families are only modestly less disenchanted than average Americans.

Why do military families hate America?

Why does he still have 51 %??? (4.00 / 1)
I realize that most people in the military are conservative, and tend to back Republicans all the way, but given that we have lost so much over the war in Iraq how does he still have 51% of Iraq Vet households?(Disapprove:49%)
What is in their kool-aid??

(A) He Doesn't, (B) Stockholm Syndrome (0.00 / 0)
First off, Bush doesan't have 51% of Iraq Vet households.  He has 42%, with 9% uncertain.

Secondly, these are folks with their families in his hands.  It's extremely terrifying to confront the reality that they are in the hands of a maniac.

This is the same basic psychological mechanism underlying the Stockholm Syndrome.  People tend to identity with those who hold them hostage as a means of avoiding confronting the terror of the situation they find themselves in.

Of course, there is also the old standby of authoritarian obedience, which simply prevents folks from ever getting to the point of admitting a problem in the first place.

But that  one we already knew about, right?
