Well played, ACLU.  Majority Leader Reid might not have felt a sufficient amount of heat as Americans with computers (the netroots) attempt to intervene on FISA, but I can promise you that articles like this in hometown papers get staffs and Senators to pay attention.

Reid in hot seat over backing of spying bill

Sen. Harry Reid angered liberals in his party last month as he sought to shield telecom companies from liability for their role in the Bush administration's domestic spying program.

As the Senate debates the surveillance issue this week, the criticism of Reid shows that his role is putting him at odds with his party's base.

Getting Heard (4.00 / 2)
The presidential candidates' servers were shut down over this issue - maybe Reid, Rockefeller and the gang need the same treatment?

All very confusing (0.00 / 0)
This is all very confusing, but according to TPM it now looks like it will be the Republicans that need to filibuster on Dodd's amendment, not Dodd doing the filibuster.

Not exactly (4.00 / 4)
The bill that Reid chose to bring to the floor already contains immunity. Dodd would need 60 votes to change that.  If Reid had brought the judiciary committee's bill to the floor, then Republicans would need 60 votes to remove immunity.  Reid is pretending that the rules are the same for everyone, but he already rigged it against Dodd. And he doesn't want you to see what he's doing - which is fighting hard for something on the Bush Administration's behalf in a way he's never done for his own party.
