Michelle Bachmann: Beyond Emily Litella and evil

Some statements or arguments are irrefutable, because they are simply too stupid.  In fact, it's not just them, it's the entire cognitive space in which they exist.  Or should I say "entire cogntive subspace bubble", since that's pecise what it is: they exist in a black hole of stupid.  Anything that gets close to enough to them to be used as an arguement, or even just evidence to refute them gets ripped from the fabric of ordinary cogntive space, and crushed by the forces of super-stupidity, suffering from an IQ depression shift, which has an effect analogous to turning your brains into applesauce.  Like this, for example:

Oh where is Gilda Radner when we need her most?

Obama sure creates the space (4.00 / 2)
He criticizes Democrats for "congenital" compassion. It's not an infantile comment, but close enough to make Bachman seem less insane. In effect, he's changed nothing since he was elected.

I think it's a weee bit more complicated than you make out.

10% factor (4.00 / 2)
JFK once observed that you could get 10% of the people to vote for anything.  In most cases, the Tea Party has yet to do that.

Christine O'Donnell won 30,561 votes.  Delaware has 621,746.  She won 4.9% of the vote.

Sharon Angle got 70,452 votes from 1,049,878 "active voters in Nevada.  That's 6.7%.

Rand Paul won easily but still managed only 206,986 votes from 2.885,433.  He got 7.1% of the registered vote.

Nikki Haley won 233,733 votes in the runoff or 9.0% of the vote.

Only Joe Miller seems to have edged up to 10%.  I couldn't find a registration total but he got about 10.8% based on 2008 registration.

Tea Party candidates have had a hard time reaching the "nut level" in 2010.  Liberal/Progressive Democrats could make an equal or greater impact if they are organized.

Well, JFK didn't say EVERYBODY could get 10%! (0.00 / 0)
And your examples clearly show it takes some talent to accomplish that. Those right wingers are short on this. Like they are short on intelligence, knowledge and values!

Call the NRA (4.00 / 1)
2nd Amendment

I do not subscribe to the NRA or the USSC view of this amendment (though gun control is far from my top issue).

But it is pretty clearly viewed as a negative right by the NRA and they are pretty damn fanatical about it. They should know that this idiot opposes their sacrosanct negative right.

That clip is unbelievable (4.00 / 1)
Your comments are beautiful, Paul.  You capture the situation exactly.  I just can't get over that clip.  Let it stand as a permanent warning of infinite stupidity.

"Gilda Radner"? You mean, Rita Hayworth? (0.00 / 0)
Sure, she was much better looking than Bachman. But isn't this a quite shallow way to look at the problem?
:D

Or the subject being treated.

Take your pick.

There was nothing shallow about Gilda.  She was the best.

Indeed, Rita's Gilda would have been great in 3D! (0.00 / 0)
The shallow twodimensional cineographic technology of that time doesn't properly reproduce that...
