Brought to you by Serendipity:
A really heartwarming piece from Chris, this:
In a letter sent to Speaker Pelosi, Representatives Woolsey and Grijalva stated that most of the 77-member progressive caucus will not support a health care plan that lacks a public option with a level playing field.
Gets the lefty juices flowing, don't it?
We have polled CPC Members and a strong majority will not support legislation that does not include a public plan option that is supported on a level playing field with private health insurance plans.
And you can take that to the bank!
Naturally, we're talking prehistory: April 2 2009, in fact. (Just a day late, you might say.)
Since then, a lot of Prog hands have got numb from being sat on for months at time.
And (as I recall) there's been a series of letters from Progs - a variety of numbers, a variety of formulations that make one think of poor old Joe McCarthy and the State Department. Credibility is somewhat below ground level.
Of course, there is still time for enough below-ground worms to turn to fulfill the Prog's promise of last April (with a little help from some Stupak's, it's possible).
But I doubt whether there'll be much inclination to celebrate.
