That the Northeast has been trending blue in recent cycles is self evidently true. Will it continue in 2010?

Below the fold for all the details and hey go check out the 2010 Race Tracker Wiki over at Open Congress for all your House, Senate and Gubernatorial needs.

The Northeast - Continuing the realignment in 2010?

We had a pretty good night on election night in the Northeast. We cleaned house. We nailed 1 GOP Senator, 6 House of Reps Districts, 1 State Senate and held on to all of the State Senates, State Houses, US House Reps and US Senators we had coming into this cycle.

That the Northeast is rapidly realigning towards team Blue is undeniable!
But the work my friends has merely begun. Forget the bunkum about us being irretrievably on defense in 2010 come below the fold to see who should be in our sights in 2010 as we stay on offense in the Northeast........

PA09 Setting up an upset

by: DvilleDem

Thu Apr 24, 2008 at 21:54

According to the website of the Commonwealth Department of State election returns, Democratic challenger Tony Barr received more votes in the April 22nd primary than did the incumbent Bill Shuster (R PA09).  Tony Barr received 57,489 votes, while Shuster received only 56,921 votes.  While hardly a landslide, the 1% Barr edge going into the general election makes an upset in the 9th District a distinct possibility.

"Obviously, we have a lot of work to do" Barr said, "but we are eager to bring our message to the voters in the 9th District.  The Bush/Shuster era hasn't been good for the 9th District and we are confident that the voters are looking to make a change, but we still have some work to do"

Let's see here, a wild card, 5th seat, ball club who began the season 0-2, whose coach had to pratically beg for his job at the end of last season, whose quarterback had been derided by almost every sports pundit in media just beat the perfect up till now, 18-0 practically perfect unstoppable juggernaut machine, quarterbacked by the boy-toy stud of all time to win the superbowl.

Don't tell me a big underdog can't get it done.

Look those of you in safe Democratic Congressional districts, and those of you who believe in the 50 state strategy, look at the PA 9th.

Help us get rid of the idiot we got, read on and I'll tell you why...
